Restless Thoughts Easel Card

Easel cards are my very favorite type of cards. They're so easy to make, the recipients always seem amazed by them, and I love how you can display both the message and the front of the card at the same time. So today I thought I'd show you how I make an easel card.

I've used Ching Chou Kuik's beautiful Restless Thoughts image. I bought it a very long time ago, but it remains one of my favorite images to color. The long lush hair, the cute wings and the great background can make for so many different looking cards, depending on the colors you use. And even though I always think of autumn when I see mushrooms, you could really color them anyway you like.

Most of my cards are 6x6 inches, so normally I use a 6x6 piece of cardstock as my front of the card. But this time I wanted it to look a little different when having the card open and on display. So I cut out a doily circle with my Cameo, and used that to mount the pretty image on.

I've used Copics and Prismacolor Pencils to color her in, and these are the ones I used:
Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, Light Peach, Peach, Beige
Eyes: E30, E31, E34, E37
Lips: R21
Dress: BG72, BG75, BG78, BG99
Hair: E50, Y21, YR14, E15
Wings: BG000, BG10, BG11
Mushrooms: V0000, V25, V28, E81, E84, E87, E30, E31, E33, W3
Background: Mediterranean Blue, Light Cerulean Blue, 30% Warm Grey, 50% Warm Grey, Goldenrod, Light Umber, Sandbar Brown, Martine Green

I absolutely love cheese cloth for added texture, and thought it would be perfect for a card with an autumn mood to it. It's so easy to rip and tear into this gorgeous mess. I also distressed the edges of paper and cardstock with dark brown ink and a distressing tool.

Ching-Chou Kuik's Restless Thoughts

For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image called "Restless Thoughts" by the artist Ching-Chou Kuik.  This image is available as a digital stamp or a rubber stamp.  The image does come with some toadstools around the gorgeous fairy but in this instance I have fussy cut around the image and removed them.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers and highlighted areas with Pan Pastels and some Stickles glitter glue on her wings - well every fairy should sparkle shouldn't they??

The background that the fairy is actually sitting in front actually comes like it is in the Bearly Mine Designs Spring Surprise Set.  It is a gorgeous setting and makes you want to be there.  I have also used some papers from the Bearly Mine Designs Just Plaids Set.  I have finished the card off with some wedding flowers, seam ribbon binding bow and a sentiment from a Debbi Moore CD.

Mostly Monochrome...

When I started colouring this gorgeous Restless Thoughts digi stamp by Ching-Chou Kuik, I initially had the idea that I wanted to give her black hair. I then decided to give her a white dress and somehow the colour scheme ended up being almost entirely monochrome - except for the splash of red for the toadstools:
So I went with the flow and kept the rest of the card monochrome too. Rather than colouring in the background, I had the idea to fussy-cut around the figure and layer her over a background image - I used a beautiful monochrome Floral Fantasy digi paper from Crafts and Me.
I also added highlights with a white gel pen and gave some gorgeous shimmer and sparkle to her wings with holographic embossing powder:
I used a black base card and also matted the image onto black card. To give added texture and contrast to the card, I embossed a panel of black card and swiped a Versamark pad across the embossed areas before brushing Perfect Pearls across the card.
And that's my mostly monochrome card. :)

Restless Thoughts

I just got this beautiful image from ching-chou kuik's fantasy art collection called Restless Thoughts, plate #45. I love this maiden, she's both elegant and innocent at the same time. I put her on a 6x6" card and used a beautiful metallic pink cardstock and some Prima floral accents along with some shaped butterfly buttons to highlight the card. To the right is an enlargement of just the stunning image created by the artist and my coloring using Copic markers.

If you click the link included above, you can see the artist's coloring of this image and how differently you can make her look with your own coloring.

I added a wonderful saying "May all your wildest dreams come true!" This saying comes from stamp plate #70 . It's just perfect for all sorts of great occasions.

Hoping that all your wildest dreams come true!

Cheers, Holley

Restless Thoughts

Good Morning!! Today I have a Sweet Pea card to share with you. I have had this image colored for over a month, so I can't remember all the colors I used to color her.

I think this image is just beautiful. I used "Restless Thoughts" by ching chou kuiks Plate#45 for Sweet Pea Stamps. The DP is from Rusty Pickle. I made my decorative frame using my cricut cutter, then painted them with some twinkling H2O's. I added some ribbon that my blogging friend Sarah sent me and the flowers on the sides came from my friend Rellz.
I also added some Pink bling and used an EKsucess border punch.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Restless Thoughts

This image is titled Restless Thoughts and is part of the ching-chou kuiks Fantasy Art Collection. I hadn't looked at the artist's colored version in some time, so find it interesting that we both used purple, or perhaps not since purple is my favorite color. I also managed to see her with a bit more skin showing, LOL! That is one of the things I love about stamps- everyone sees them just a bit differently!
