Jane presents Lil' Girl Swinging by Art House Designs

For my easel card I have used the gorgeous image Lil' Girl Swinging by Art House Designs available from Sweet Pea Stamps, the image is in digi format.

To begin with I coloured the image with Faber Castell Polychromos.

Next I cut my easel card shape with Spellbinders Grand Circles out of blue card and embossed the base section.  For the frame I have chosen to use, Round 2 by Joy Crafts, I first cut the die and then hand cut the middle section out leaving only the frame.  The removed section is going to be used for the inside of the card.

I made my butterfly using both the die cut and the embossing Spellbinders Les Papillions - 4.  I did not find the die embossed very well no matter what I tried so in the end I used Zig glue to pick up the areas that should have embossed and added white micro fine glitter.  The Happy Birthday text was cut with Spellbinders Sentiments 1 and this was placed on a the blue card cut with Sizzix - 657938.  This was then mounted with foam tape to the inside of the card.

Finally I finished off with White Lace Stickles and Blue Liquid Pearls.

A pretty simple card but I really did not want to over embellish as the image is so pretty and really deserves centre stage :)

Featured Artists - Linda BIggs - Jane's view

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps.  As it is Featured Artist Week the whole DT are working with images by Linda Biggs and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Medicine Woman which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in both rubber and digi.

I have a bunch of design papers from magazines and they just seem to sit there unused so I am making a conscious effort this year to attack the pile lol.  With that in mind my first step was to choose my backing paper and then colour my image around those colours.  With that done I used a peel off birthday sticker in white and airburshed it with my Promarker, one of the colours used in the image.  I should add the image was coloured with Promarkers and I chalked the background. The sentiment was, once dry, placed on some of the DP used for the background and then die cut.

To finish off the card I used a Dreamcatcher die from Cherry Lynn which I airbrushed and Sizzix  - Ornate Hanging Sign.  The sentiment was cut with Xcut tags. a lace border was added along the bottom edge and a bow tied with the same lace and then airbrushed with my Lilac Promarker.  Finally, some pink Stickels on the dreamcatcher and pearls picking out the three main colours, pink green and blue.

Munchies - Jane's view

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image Munchies by Karen Middleton which is available from the Sweet Pea Store as a digi.

I have decided to make a box to hold a muffin for a change, a nice wee gift to give to my friend on her birthday I hope <g>  Alas I have to buy the muffin as I can't cook and won't cook lol.

To begin with I made a template for the box and lid and then covered them with gift wrapping paper.

With all the corners glued and the acetate windows in place it was time to put the box to one side to dry.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and then chalked the background.

A simple tag was made using Spellbinders Scalloped ovals, the larger back one was covered in the wrapping paper before die cutting.  I then coloured a silver peel off sentiment with my Promarker and put this on the top section of the tag.

 To finish off I added ribbon, buttons and Ice Stickles.

First Kiss - Jane's view

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase and image from Sweet Pea Stamps and I have chosen to work with the beautiful image First Kiss by Conie Fong which is available from the Sweet Pea Store in both rubber and digi.

To begin with I cut my card shapes using a template and white and pale pink card.  The pattern is a download by Ann Smith

 Next I coloured my image with Promarkers

All the sections were folded and glued where appropriate.  I fussy cut the image and placed this on the card.  The small heart from the pattern was used for a simple sticker sentiment and I finished it off with some pale pink colour fragments and some pink hearts which were left over bits from the die cutting.

To finish off I added a pink die cut border along the bottom edge and a double heart behind the digi, some flowers and a big pink bow.

Featured Artist - Maigan Lynn, Swinging in the Stars Jane's view

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase an image from Sweet Pea Stamps for our Artist Week where the whole DT use images for the same artist which this week is MAIGAN LYNN and I am using the image 'Swinging in the Stars'  available from the Sweet Pea Store.  This image is available in both rubber and as a digi.

For this creation I have made a box to hold 'Post It' notes, a small pad of paper and a pencil.

To begin with I printed the image twice, one image to work with and the other in case I mess up (which I did hahahaha).  Hubby bought me some new crayons the other day - Derwent Artist, so I decided to do my colouring sitting in my chair while watching TV instead of in my craft area.  Now that, I have to admit, I really enjoyed.  However, the following morning I was not very happy with my colouring, the image looked very flat.  The crayons are lovely to use, wax based, but I am finding it very hard to build up the contrast even when working lightly to build up the colour.  To try and rectify this I added some Promarker colour (bad idea as it was impossible to blend) and also painted the background with some turquoise glitter paint over the background I had coloured the night before (another bad idea as I ended up painting over parts of the digi).  Right, how to sort this - colour the second digi and fussy cut to put on top hahahahaha.  Again I used the Derwent Artist crayons and with better light and adding black was able to build up the dark areas a bit better.  Still not happy though.

I should add that before I printed the image I added a poem to the moon, this is not part of the original digi.

 Next to prep the card to make the box and outside cover.

 I painted the box and cover with the same blue glitter paint I used on the digi background and then added some purple lace to the top of the box.

On the front of the box I added a couple of metal decorative bit I picked up in a local shop sale basket.

 Onto the pencil.  Using my lovely free IKEA mini pencils I painted it with gold paint.  I then drilled a hole through the top of the pencil and added a beaded chain made up of beads to match the box and digi. I then threaded the wire through the hole, added another bead and passed the wire back through the hole. To finish off I twisted the wire round the pencil to hold it tight.  This is my newest way of attaching my bead chains to the pencils and certainly the most successful so far.

 Here we have the completed box.

 And this is the top view.  The digi is mounted on gold glitter foam and the die is cut from the same material, really funky stuff.  Think I picked this up in the Range amongst the kids craft stuff and it was so cheap, just goes to show you don't need to buy all the expensive goodies out there to work with <g>.  The die used is Joanna Sheen - Large Filigree Fan
