Connie-Sweet Pea Checkbook Cover

I have dipped into my Sweet Pea Stamps stash for
this project.  My old checkbook cover was
getting a little ragged looking so I gathered up some
 Sweet Pea Stamps
and made a new one.

I used some images from Plate #28 by
ching chou kuik and some pretty pearl swirls
by Recollections paired with some
papers by K and Company along with
my butterfly edger punch by Martha Stewart for one
side (top photo).

The bottom photo shows the other side of the cover with
the same paper pad (different design) and same butterfly punch.
On this side I used stamps from Plate #5
"Wanna Have Fun"
as well as some Stickles by Ranger
"Stardust"
and small gems here and there.

I punched a border from one paper and adhered it to the other paper and
repeated for the other side for added contrast.

A simple but useful project yes?

Connie-Think SUMMER!!

I was so inspired by some work done by Theresa Momber that

I tried to CASE one.

I see there is more of an art to sponging

inks than I thought there was.

Connie-It'za Beach!

I was "revisiting" some of the original Sweet Pea images and came across one of 

my favorites from Plate #5 which I have labeled

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!"

My card is a simple, just-plain FUN card as you can see.

I began with a yellow base and cut some blue Bazzill Basics with specialty scissors to imitate waves.

I layered some sandpaper at the bottom for my "beach" cut with another specialty scissors.

Then I cut a wavy strip of  brown paper scrap for my palm tree and added some tropical leaf brads.

I think I got the palm tree a little on the small side but hope you see the {big picture} here?

I stamped the Beach Girl and colored her with Copic markers and being the

lazy stamper that I am, I did not cut her out fully, but rather left her on a white background.

I justified this to myself by thinking she would stand out more on white than cut out.....not sure

if that flies, but it sounded good to me at the time.

I stamped the verse that comes with this plate in the upper right corner with 

Tuxedo black by Memento.

I love the perky lines of this Sweet Pea image and there are more girls on the

same plate as well!

Connie-Havin' Fun?

This card was done with images from Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #5

Supplies:
Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #5
Black Memento dye ink (Tsukineko)
Encore Blue Metallic pigment ink (Tsukineko)
Oval cutting system (Creative Memories)
Stipple brushes (Judi-Kins)
Removable adhesive
Blue, black & white cardstock (stash)
Copic Markers

Directions:

1) Stamp the lady with black ink on white cardstock, mask with oval shape
2) Stamp upper portion of small dragonfly around mask for frame, keeping it as even as possible
3) Stipple blue ink around mask, lighter as you go outward
4) Stamp dragonfly with blue ink here and there
5) Remove mask and color image with Copic markers
6) Layer on black panel and on blue base card

*You can make your "frame" with any image you like, keeping just a bit part showing for a great look*

Using a delightful tiny dragonfly image from Sweet Pea Stamps #5 and a lovely saying from Sweet Pea Stamps plate #2 I have put together a set of coasters as a gift for a friend who has a small winery.

I stamped the saying in the center of the blank coaster with black dye ink and stamped the small dragonfly in each corner with burgundy dye ink. I added glitz to the dragonfly tail with the Stardust Gellyroll pen and sponged green ink all around the edges with more at the very edge. I went around the rim with a copper colored leafing pen to help seal the edge and finish it both.

Then I inked it well with Versamark ink and dipped into UTEE, heating with heat tool until melted. I repeated the Versamark/UTEE step 2 more times until I acheived a glass-like smooth finish.

Hopefully the UTEE will seal the coasters so they will be resistant to spills and my gift will last my friend a long time.

This lovely rendition of Sweet Pea plate #5 is just smoke and mirrors. You get the impression that it is layered with another layer on top, but it is all one whole piece of cardstock, nothing but optical illusions.

Supplies:

Inks: Stamp It dye "New Burgundy" by Ranger & dye ink "Gardenia" by Ranger
Clear glitter pen "Stardust" by Sakura
Post It notes
Ruler
Sponge
Dye marker "Burgundy" by Stampin' Up!

Directions:
Cut & score dark purple cardstock into A2 card size, cut light purple cardstock slightly smaller.
Stamp focal image in center of light purple cardstock, stamp another on scrap post it note & cut out for mask. Mask focal image. Using post it notes, mask cardstock into 4 areas. Remove one note at a time and stamp images & sponge around edges. Remove another note and repeat. Repeat until all 4 areas are done. Using ruler draw a line with markers across and down in center of panel to separate areas. Remove mask from focal image and go over glass with clear glitter pen. Adhere this panel onto card base.

This is a fun technique and is easy to get good results with little effort.

Connie-At The Beach

Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #5 is made for a day at the beach or the pool, soaking up rays and just havin' fun!
I began with a blue cardstock base and layered some fine sandpaper which I tore to resemble a beach.
I stamped the images and colored with SU! markers, adding some white with a white gel pen by EK Success. A cute brass sun charm added with a tiny brad from Oriental Trading and my "scene" is complete!

This is a simple yet striking card I think. My scanner wants to wash out the color so please take my word for it....I did NOT forget to color the entire image!

I cut a yellow panel slightly smaller than the blue base and edged with "Bubbles" edger punch.
I cut a cream panel slightly smaller than the yellow on which I stamped the images.

That is all there was to this card. Sweet Pea has images that stand by themselves I believe. You don't need to bury them with foo fah.....

This is just a totally FUN card today!

Supplies:

Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #5

Coordinating background papers

Directions:

1) Sew piece of background paper onto another background paper

2) Punch small holes along left side and thread pcs. of ribbon through

3) Punch small holes over flower center and tie button with fibers

4) Layer over pink cardstock base (A2 size)

5) Stamp your "Pal," color and trim it out, popping on BG paper

6) Stamp word in lower right corner *TIP: Tape over unwanted portions before inking and remove tape before stamping (you can "pick & choose" your words this way!)

Put this all together and it spells F*U*N!!

Party Favor Treat Boxes

With the end of summer and Labor Day approaching quickly what a fun way to liven up your celebration.

Supplies:

Sweet Pea Stamps Plate 5
Brilliance Graphite Black Ink Pad (Tsukineko)
Colored Card Stock (Unknown)
Mod Podge (Plaid)
Scissors (EK Success)

Instructions:

1. Stamp the image four times in a row. Then stamp the image two additional times, flanking one of the original stamped images on both sides as shown below.


2. Trim out the stamped image leaving a selvage along the edges of about 1/8".

3. Fold the box up by creasing between each of the stamped image frame lines, folding the selvage inward.

4. Tack the box in shape with a bit of adhesive on the selvage edges so that the box will hold it's shape.



5. Enjoy sharing!

Diamonds....this card has lots of them! The main image is from Sweet Pea Stamps plate #5 (full of summertime fun).

I used a purple base (A2 size) on which I layered a black panel slightly smaller. I ran a pink panel (smaller yet) through the Cuttlebug using the "Diamonds In The Rough" embossing folder after stamping the saying with black Tuxedo Memento ink. I then ran a VersaColor "Misty Mauve" inkpad lightly over the top to catch the embossed diamonds for contrast.

I stamped the diamond image with black dye ink and colored with Copic markers. Added 2 tiny gold eyelets on each side & ran some kinky gold fibers through them, adhering the fibers behind the panel before attaching it over the black mat.

Other supplies: fibers by On The Surface "Gilt Edge", dimensional tape, eyelets by Eyelets Etc.

A pattern for fun

I am flattered to be invited to return to the design team this round and hope I provide lots of inspiration for your creative mojo. This card features the Sweet Pea plates number 7 and 5. It is pretty simple to make with just a few supplies, including your pc and printer.

Supplies:

Sweet Pea Plate #5
Black Brilliance Ink Pad (Tsukineko)
White Card Stock (Unknown)
Solid Green Card Stock (s.e.i.)
Patterned Card Stock (Basic Grey)
Water Color Pencils (Stampin' Up)
Blender Pen (Stampin' Up)
Adhesive (Terrifically Tacky)
Mod Podge (Plaid)
Scissors
Computer
Printer
Paper Trimmer

Instructions:

1. Stamp the straight legged girl image on white card stock twice, leaving space between them.

2. Of the two stamped images choose the better and set aside. Trim the remaining image out for a mask.

3. Position the mask over the image and stamp the remaining image about .5 - .75" above and to the right of the first image, overlapping about .5".

4. Color in the images with the water color pencils and blend the colors with the blender pen. Trim the images out neatly.

5. Cut a piece of white card stock out that is 3" x 4.25", a piece of patterned paper out that is 3.25" x 4.5" and the solid paper to 5.5" x 8.5" and fold in half to create the card.

6. Using the computer and a word processing or image software, create a "pattern envelope" adding the name of the line and additional information.

7. Print a sample of the computer generated background on a full sheet of paper to verify size and positioning on the paper.

8. Using a small piece of adhesive, overlay the white card stock on top of the printed area of the test page and adhere. Position this in the printer tray so that the card stock will receive the printed information and print.

9. Adhere the stamped images to the front of the pattern with Mod Podge.

10. Mat the pattern to the patterned paper with double sided tape.

11. Using the text stamps, stamp "Girls just want to have fun." along three edges of the card front and "Just a note," at the lower right hand corner of the card front.

12. Adhere the matted image to the card front at an angle, positioning between the stamped sentiments.

13. Enjoy sharing!

I cut pink BG paper slightly smaller than white card (A2 size) & tied ribbon around it before attaching to white base.
Stamped girl image on white & colored with SU markers, adding white dots on hat and bag to match paper.
Stamped saying on white and cut to fit corner.




I tried putting the words on the outside around my image (see above) but decided I liked it better inside.

A summery farewell

My time as a designer at SweetPea ends tomorrow but I just had to show you these 3 cards that I made with the newest plate.

My new favorite tool is a dry preferably scratchy old washcloth to add that touch of beach sand to a summer card. Sweet!

No special trick here, but I have taken to using punchies instead of brads to keep the post office from charging me for fat envies!

Girls just wanna have fun ... and stampin with Sweet Pea has been a blast! Thanks for looking at my cards - I have enjoyed sharing.

Supplies:

Pool Party Plate #5 Stamps (Sweet Pea Stamps)
Embossing Ink (Stewart Superior)
Sea Foam Mica Card Stock (Cal. Paper Goods)
White Card Stock (Unknown)
Super Fine Black Embossing Powder (Ranger)
Sea Spray Embossing Powder (Paper Odyssey)
Markers (Unknown)
Scissors (EK Success)
Heat Gun (Marvy)

Instructions:

1. Stamp the girl's head image on white card stock with black ink, color with markers and trim out neatly.
2. Cut the green card stock to a 2.5" x 3.5" card.
   
3. On the green card stock, stamp the flip flop image with embossing ink, starting at the lower left hand side about .25" from the edge. Repeat two additional times one above the other.
4. Coat with Sea Spray embossing powder, tap off excess and heat to set.
5. Stamp the relax image at an angle on the lower right hand corner, cover with black embossing powder and remove the excess. Heat to set.
6. Attach the colored head image with Mod Podge in the center of the card.
7. Sign and title the card on the back.
8. Enjoy sharing.
