A Couple of Valentines

Hello! I have made a couple of Valentines today with images by Nikki Burnette. The first one uses Ryla from Plate 73. I just love her lingerie and the cute little owl! The paper is is one sheet, with the layered look printed on it. It was a little bigger than I like to make my cards though, so I cut the center pink section out and moved the beige corners in. It still has the same look as the pre-printed piece but is now 5.25 inches square instead of 6. I know that may seem like a lot of effort for such a small change, but I have envelopes that will fit the 5.25!! I also wrapped silver cord around the card to mimic the strings hanging in the image. The sentiment is a vertical sentiment from Plate 52, but I cut the letters apart so I could mount it horizontally.

The Details:
Stamp: Ryla - Nikki Burnette (Plate 73), sentiment from Plate 52, both from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Bo Bunny, Chocolate Chip 9Stampin Up), White for Image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Spun Sugar, Barn Door and Walnut Stain Distress Inks
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,E13,R00,R20
Hair: E57,E59, E47,E49
Clothes:RV10,RV21,RV23,R24,R29,R39,C0,C1,C3
Owl: E50,E53,E55,E57,E59
Background: E50,E53,R24,R29,R39
Misc: Silver Cord (SU), Stardust Stickles

My second card uses Arden from Nikki Burnette's Plate 82. This is one of my favorite cards that I have made in a long time! I know it is pretty simple without a lot of embellishment, but I was so pleased with how it came out! All of the papers and the "forever" sticker are form Echo Park. (I've just realized that it looks like I mounted the music sheet upside down because the parts that are showing all have the notes upside down! I think most of the "right side up" notes are under the heart! I don't play an instrument - is this normal?!))

The Details:
Stamp: Arden - Nikki Burnette (Plate 82), from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper:Echo Park, Basic Black (SU), Iced Azalea (Prism), White for Image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,E13,R00,R20
Hair:RV000,RV02
Clothes:C0,C1,C3,C5,C7,C9
Wings: RV00,RV02,RV04,RV06,C7,C9
Background: E50,E53,R24,R29,R39
Misc: Stardust and Black Stickles
, Sticker from Echo Park, Nestabilities Heart Die

A Couple of Pretty Fairies

Hi! I have made some cards today with images from ching chou kuik's Sheet 25, Plate 70 from Sweet Pea Stamps. Her artwork is so much fun to color!

This first card uses the image Fairies Little Companion. This was an image I could not wait to get - I fell in love with books like The Dragonlance Chronicles and The Dragonriders of Pern series when I married my husband (he introduced me to the Fantasy book genre!) and this makes me think of those times!

The Details:
Stamp: Fairies Little Companion - ching chou kuik (Plate 70) from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: My Minds Eye, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink), Not Quite Navy, Soft Sky (Stampin Up), white for image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,E13,R00,R20
Hair and Dragon: YG00,YG03 (both w/RV10 over) YG95,YG97
Clothes and Wings: BG10,BG11,BG72,BG75,BG78
Misc: Cricut (Cartridge Cindy Loo), Spellbinders Nestabilities, Darice Gems, Stardust Stickles

For the second card I used the image Peachy Pink Fairy. This has nothing to do with how I colored her or made the card, but don't you think in the drawing she looks like Christina Applegate? I kept thinking that as I colored her!! The frame is cut out using my Cricut on Grungeboard. That was my first time using Grungeboard and it felt like thick leather to me. I liked it! I painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam afterward so it is sparkly black.

The Details:
Stamp:Peachy Pink Fairy - ching chou kuik (Plate 70) from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Fancy Pants Designs, Black (Papertrey Ink),, white for image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,E13,R00,R20
Hair and Wings: B32,B34
Clothes: R81,R83,R85 w/RV10 over
Flower: Y15,Y08,Y17,YG23,YG25
Misc: Cricut (Cartridge Cindy Loo - I think!), Darice Gems, Stardust Stickles, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam, Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

I hope your day is magical!

Rock On Tiny Purple Creature!

Hi! I have made a card today with an image by Linda Biggs, who is one of the new artists that Sweet Pea Stamps now carries. This image does not come individually, but does have some fun sentiments on the sheet!!

I wanted to make this one a little more Clean and Simple than I usually do, with a lot of white space. If you have seen the original colored image then you know I messed up and interpreted part of her body as part of the flower (the green I colored as leaves!) but I think it looks fine if you don't know how the artist originally intended it!

The Details:
Stamp: Linda Biggs Plate 83 (Sweet Pea Stamps)
Paper: Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Basic Black (all Stampin Up), White for image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: V01,V04,V05
Clothes: YG00,YG21,YG23,RV04,RV06
Flower: V000,V01,YG21,YG23
Misc: Sakura Clear Stardust Pen, Ribbon (Offray), Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Coolio), Nestabilities Rectangles Dies

Peace

Hello! I have made a card today using an image by Nikki Burnette. I have to say I was a little intimidated when I first got this one because there seems to be so much to color, but once I got started it was really fun!

When I was done I sprayed the whole image with Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle. It looks lovely and sparkly, without effecting the image in real life but in the photo it is making it look kind of grainy and blurry....The doves are a Martha Stewart punch from last year - I punched it several times and cut it apart and the re-layered it back together so that I could position the wings differently on each of them. For the brown background piece I coated my embossing folder with Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam before putting the paper in.

The Details:
Stamp: Nikki Burnette's Neva (Plate 82) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Basic Grey, Early Espresso (SU), White for image - Copic XPress
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,R00,R20
Hair: E44,E47,E49
Clothes: E15 W/R35,R37.R39 over, BG10,BG11
Background: B000,BG10,BG11,E44,E47,E49,Y000,Y02,Y15
Misc: Stardust Stickles, Sakura Clear Stardust Pen, Shimmer Spritz, Tattered Angels Espresso Glimmer Glam, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Martha Stewart Dove Punch, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles

I hope your day is wonderful!

Masculine Christmas Card

Hello! This card has NO coloring which is unheard of for me! I wanted to make a quick card and this image is just perfect for that. My husband thinks my card is too dark for a Christmas card - I was going for masculine but maybe I overdid it? Anyway, I think the image is beautiful, so I am definitely going to have to try again!

The Details:
Stamp: Holiday Collage Sheet Plate 56 - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Basic Grey, Kraft and Very Vanilla (SU), Pure Black (PTI)
Ink: Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Old Photo, Antique Linen Distress Inks
Misc: Offray Ribbon, Scallop Punch (SU)

Poinsetta Fairy

Hi! I have another Christmas Card to show you today using a gorgeous image from ching-chou kuik's plate 60. This one is called Poinsettia Fairy. All four of the images on this sheet are stunning and I intend to make Christmas cards with all of them (although they can be purchased individually, too).

I almost always get my color palette from the paper I choose, and this was no exception. I colored the image with Copics and then added some sparkle with both Stickles and a Sakura Clear Stardust glitter pen. The background is one sheet of paper - I cut a slit in the paper that is covered up with the image panel and cut along the edge of the ornament so I could slide the image slightly underneath it. The sentiment is cut from another piece of paper in the same line, then I went over the letters with the glitter pen.

The Details:
Stamp: Poinsetta Fairy - chin-chou kuik (Plate 60) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Bo Bunny, Prism Purple, White for image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,R00,R20
Hair: FV2 (Lightened with a Copic Blender), V000
Flowers: BG000,BG02 both w/T0 over them,E47,FV2

Background: G20 w/E40 over, BG000, FV2

Holly Fairy

Hi! I am busy working on making my Christmas cards, and I was so excited to get to play with one of ching-chou kuik's Christmas images. Plate 60 has four absolutely stunning holiday images and I can't wait to make each one into a card (they can each be purchased individually, too).

The holly in this image reminded me of some older Bo Bunny paper that I had, so I did my best to color the image so the background would look like an extension of the DP (or the DP would look like an extension of the background of the image.) I colored the image with Copic markers and added some stickles and a glitter pen for sparkle. I used the Martha Stewart icicle punch on clear card stock, then covered that with tinsel glitter and layered it under the ribbon.

The Details:
Stamp: Holly Fairy - chin-chou kuik (Plate 60) - from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Bo Bunny, Handsome Hunter (SU), White for image (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Walnut Stain and Antique Linen Distress Inks
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,R00,R20
Hair: YG11
Wings and Clothes: YG11,YG25,YG17,G14,G17,G29
Holly and Background: YG11,YG25,YG17,G14,G17,G29,T6 all w/R02 over them, R24,R29,R39, E50
Misc: Martha Stewart Icicle Punch, Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter (mica), Stardust Stickles, Sakura Clear Stardust pen, Ribbon (Retired SU), Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

I hope you are having fun getting your Holiday cards done!

Glamgothic Fairy at Christmas Time!

Hi! I have a sneak peek today of an image that will be available soon at Sweet Pea Stamps! It is by Caron Vinson and is called Glamgothic Fairy. I know the name implies something quite different from how I colored her, but I am in the mood to make Holiday cards and I just went with that!

Paper: Making Memories, Herbal Green Md and Blush Red DK (Prism), White for Image (CopicXPress)

Hello! Sweet Pea Stamps has added several new wonderful artists to the stamp lines that they carry - I have made a couple of cards with images by Brigid Ashwood. The first one is called Zam. Holiday Fox Allure

I have a habit (I can't make up my mind if it's a good habit or a bad one...) of deciding to color an image without getting any info on it. What I mean by that is I don't look at the original art to see how the artist colored it and if I don't remember the name of it, I don't look at that either until afterwards. So, when I started this I thought "Oooh, I really want to make a Christmas card with this gorgeous wolf image." (Totally off topic, but I am currently reading this Young Adult werewolf series right now, where the trigger to "shift" is cold weather not the full moon.) Anyway, I finished it up and then saw the stamp is called "Fox Allure"! When I showed it to my DH he said,"Of course it's a fox!" But he did agree it could look like a very dainty wolf!

I colored the image with Copics and added a little stickles for sparkle. I painted the chipboard snowflakes with Pewter Crackle paint first and then added some stickles on top after the paint had dried.

The Details:
Stamp: Fox Allure (ching chou kuik Plate 64) Sentiment from Holiday Collage Sheet (Plate 50) - both from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Echo Park, Oceans Tide (Papertrey Ink), White for image (Copic XPress)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,E13,R00,R20
Hair: E43,E44,E47,E49
Clothes: R59,RV69,RV99,R24,R29,R39
Fox: W0,W1,W3,C1,BG72,BG75
Background: C1,C3
Misc: Frosted Lace and Stardust Stickles, Maya Road Chipboard Snowflakes, Brushed Pewter Distress Crackle Paint, Hat Pin and Beads (Retired Stampin Up), Ribbon (Taylored Expressions), Clear Stardust gel pen

Two Lil' Halloween Cards

Hello! I thought I would bring you a couple of last minute Halloween themed cards today! For the first card I used Samantha Rawlings sweet Lil' Witch. I made a frame around her using four fancy corners cut with a Sizzix die and I tried to "connect" them on the long sides using tiny black gems. It is a little more crooked than I had hoped....but I still like the original idea!

The Details:
Stamp: Samantha Rawlings Lil' Witch - (sheet 2, Plate 62) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: K&Co (I think), Black and White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: E000, E00,E11,R00,R20

Pumpklin and Car: Y15,Y17,YR16,YR18
Misc: Sizzix Corner die, Spellbinders Label Die, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, Darice Gems

For my second card I used Elaine Cox's Little Witch Cat. I colored the image with Copics and added a little Diamond Stickles around the moon and a little Crystal Effects to the kitty's eyes. I am not sure I really love how that turned out, but it is good to try something new sometimes, right?

The Details:
Stamp: Elaine Cox's Little Witch Cat (Sheet 9, Plate 59) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Bo Bunny, Black and White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Cat: W5,W7,W8,W10

Two Sweet Witches

Hello! It is getting close to Halloween and that definitely has me in the mood to make cards with cute little witches and adorable kitties!! These two are both by Elaine Cox.

This first one is called Little Stars Witch and is from Plate #59. I colored the whole image with Copics and then I went over the moon and the sky with Twinkling H2O watercolors. I used a Cuttlebug die (cut out twice and cut in half) for the photo corners and an EK Success edge punch to cut the black piece that separates the two panels.

The Details:
Stamp: El;aine Cox's Little Stars Witch (Plate 59) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: K&Co
Cardstock: Black and White (Papertrey Ink),
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

This image is called Playing With Stars and is from Plate #46. Again, I colored the image with Copic markers and then went over the background with Twinkling H2O watercolors. I used Diamond Stickles for some sparkle on the stars, the Kitty wings and the photo corners.

A Couple of Halloween Witches

Today I have made cards with two new Elaine Cox images called Twilight Halloween and Starry Halloween! They are so beautiful to me and I could not wait until they arrived in my mail box! Just so you know, they are a little bigger than most of the Sweet Pea images. For reference, my cards are 6.25 x 4.5 inches.

The first one is Twilight Halloween and I have colored it in black and white (with Copic Markers) and then added some sparkle with a Clear Stardust Sakura gel pen.

The Details:
Stamp: Elaine Cox's Twilight Halloween from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: The Paper Company (Black Glitter), Creative Imaginations (Red), and White card stock (Papertrey Ink)Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics: C0,C1,C3,C5,C7,C9,100
Misc: Sakura Clear Stardust pen, Corner Punch (SU), Ribbon (Offray)

For Starry Halloween I decided to make the witch green and tried to match her to my paper. She is also colored with Copics, but I did use Twinkling H2O watercolors on the moon to make it shimmer and a little Clear Stardust Sakura gel pen on the twinkling stars!

The Details:
Stamp: Elaine Cox's Starry Halloween from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: We R Memory Keepers, Garden Green card stock (SU) Black and White card stock (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:

The Seahorse and The Dragonfly

Hello! I have two cards to show you today, both using gorgeous images from ching-chou kuik. For the first one, called The Seahorse I colored the image and the background with Copic markers, and then I went over the background with Twinkling H2O watercolors. I finished the card off with a little sparkle from a Sakura Clear Stardust gel pen, some pearls and a little stitching.

The Details:
Stamp: ching-chou kuik's The Seahorse - from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: My Minds Eye, Dark Chocolate and White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,E13,R20
Hair: G000,G00,G02
Clothes: BG72,BG75,G02,YG03 w/RV10 over it, YG95
Seahorses: YG21,YG03 w/RV10 over it, YG95
Background: E47,E49
Misc: Twinkling H2o watercolors, Recollections Stick on Pearls, Sakura Clear Stardust Pen

On the second one, called The Dragonfly, I again used my Copics to color the image. I left the background white and then painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Chandelier. It is hard to see in the photo, but in real life it has a beautiful sparkle that is subtler than my usual Stardust Stickles. To complete the card I "framed" the image with a Spellbinders die cut and added some gems around the scalloped circle.

The Details:
Stamp: ching-chou kuik's The Dragonfly - from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: We R Memory Keepers, Birchtone Dark (Prism), White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Little Seahorses

For my card today I was determined to do a little more with the background than I have been lately. Funny thing is I had picked a DP with waves that I was excited about using with this underwater beauty and I pretty much covered it all up! I used my scalloped square Nestabilities for the piece under the main image and a Sizzix photo corner die for the corner pieces. They are both covered in stickles and then I added some gems to the corner pieces. The main image is colored with my Copics and the background is colored with Twinkling H2O watercolors.
