Sweet Pea Stamps

Tera Presents Estella Avery By Norma J Burnell

Hallo,
Well I have started a major project in my craft room - someone asked me to make up a Tarot/reading card deck just for them using a lot of fairies and mermaids and such, and with all the wonderful images here at Sweet Pea Stamps I have plenty to choose from!!!
So the 'card' needs to be mostly flat but I also wanted them to be sturdy and to just feel nice - so the image itself is done on Cryogen white and then backed to a very pretty shimmery heavy gold card stock.
For this one I used 'Estella Avery by Norma J Burnell and colored her with Prismacolor pencils. I edged both layers with gold metallic pen and added some gold corner stickers. I did add some pearl drops with a Viva Décor pen but kept them very flat so the deck will lay nice.

I have also used an acrylic spray sealer on the card to help it stay durable during use.

I just love these tangled images from Norma - so fun to color and such pretty faces!!!

My Deep Love - Tera

 Hallo,
  A sweet little card today that I made up for a friend of mine!!!
  I used Norma J Burnell's  "My Deep Love" - from Sweet Pea Stamps of course -  and colored her with prismacolor pencils.
  This image is available both as a rubber stamp and a digital image.
  I layered her to a die cut using silver metallic paper and cut the tag from the same piece.
  Then I added all kinds of fun stuff - seed beads as a frame and an accent on the tag, 2 small metal charms, and some pretty flowers in matchy matchy colors.

The Dragonkeeper by Norma J Burnell

Hi today I want to show you this gorgeouss stamp The DragonKeeper by Norma J Burnell. I soo love dragons as I used to sculpt dragons and fantasy related creatures. Unfortunatly I had to stop because my hands could not keep up with me as I have carpal tunnel syndrome. SO now i have to satisfied my dragonaddiction with gorgeouss dragonstamps ;)

I coloured The Dragonkeeper with Spectrum Noir markers and pencils and used some liquid pearls. The papers are digipapers I printed out a long time ago.

Will-O and the wisps - by Tera

 Hallo,
    Time for my Saturday post :) - Today I used an image from Norma J. Burnell called 'Will-O and the wisps'
   I colored her with prismacolor pencils using fall colors - I am soooo in the mood for a bit of cooler weather!!!!
  I decided to put her in this great 3-D frame designed by my friend Vicki for accu cuts using some pretty fallish papers and some pretty embellishments.
   I used some flowers with rhinestones on them and pulled out some fall colored rhinestones from my stash and then some gold colored leaf stickers.
  The word beautiful is a rub-on from my stash - this package of rub-on's has been in my stash for more than 5 years so it just goes to show that it (it meaning my stash) will all get used eventually :)

Little Dragon sketch journal - Tera

 Hallo,
   I pulled a sketch journal out of my stash to alter today - it is a hard cover 9 by 11 inch, so pretty good sized.
  I used Norma J Burnell's 'Cybele & Kaida (little dragon) and colored them with copic markers.
  I cut the main image and the fancy one under it with Spellbinders dies. I edged the main layer and the pretty paper that I used for the base with gold metallic pen.
  I added some beaded trim, paper flowers that I spritzed with glimmer mist, some metal corners and lastly some teal pearl drops with a viva décor pen.

Wanting to try something completely different, I decided to give this beautiful girl an aqua skin color, to match the sea theme going on. I really like how it turned out, reminding me of a mermaid.

As always I colored with my copics, and these are the ones I used:
Skin: BG10, Bg11, Bg23
Blues: B21, B23, B24
Purples: V20, V22, V25, V28
Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15

I had some very old die cuts of sea weed lying around. And I just love when I can dig into my stash and get some of it used. So even though they don't match perfectly in color, they match in theme. And I thought that to be good enough.

Hi Sweet Pea Stampers :)

Today is my first Official posting as dt member for Sweet Pea Stamps and I am so honoured to work with these awesome stamps.

They are so different from all the cute stuff I normally do so I hope you like how I use them.

For today I made this card with the awesome Hoot Owl stamp from Norma J Burnell..  I love how it tuned out with the added white dots. I coloured with Spectrum Noir markers and pencils.

 Hallo,
   Trying to do a few Christmas cards here and there - so I don't have a rush come November :)
  Today I used a sweet image from Norma J Burnell called 'The Gift' and colored her with my copics. She is so much fun to color - so may possibilities!!!!
   I the layered her to some pretty ribbons and some Christmas paper and added a few pearl drops with a viva décor pen and that is a wrap :)

 Hallo,
   I no more than got this digi in my inbox and I had to print her out and color her up :). She is 'Posey' by Norma J. Burnell  and I colored her with my copics.
  I had to do her up first in purples but then I did a fall colored version too, so I will show you both today :)
  I love her sweet face and the flowers that she is holding and in her hair.

Variations Week - Holley's View

Here's my take on a stunning image from Sweet Pea artist Norma Burnell named Posy.  Haven't you been loving this image?  I decided to chose two colors as the focus for this card, turquoise and violet.  I just love how the bird in the image is holding two tiny flowers so I added two birds to my card and put small flowers in their beaks.  I added a simple sentiment "Live Laugh Love."

Variations Week: Lina's View

Norma J Burnell is one of my absolute favorite artists. I just love her images, her way of coloring and all the gorgeous little details.

These are also images that I enjoy to color very much myself. So I thought that I'd record me coloring, so you can see how I approached this image. I do not talk in this video, there's only music, but I hope you can tell how I go about my coloring process anyway. It took me about 1½ hour to color her, so I sped up the video, so you don't have to watch through all that.



I spend most of the time coloring, working on the skin and getting it just the way I wanted it. I find that if I do a decent job with the skin, I can often get away with errors on hair and clothes. The copics I used are in the video, but in case you don't want to go through it, here's the list:

Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, E13
Wings: BG10, BG11, BG13, BV0000, V20, V22, V25
Hair: E50, E51, E53, E55
Yellow: Y32, Y35, Y38, E34
Green: G40, G43, G46
Shadow: C2, C3, C4
Lips: R20, R21, R22
Eyes: B91, B93, B95, B99

I really wanted the beautiful image to take up center stage on the card, so I kept the rest of the card pretty simplle. I used a die to cut out vellum, and then run it through an embossing folder. Adding some purple ink on top of that vellum tied it in nicely with the colors of the image. Adding a few flowers and the card was done.

The stamp, from the Sweet Pea Stamp store, is Norma J Burnell's Posy which can be found in Digi and Rubber.

Variations Week with Posy: Aletha’s View

Aletha here with my view of Norma J. Burnell’s Posy. I fell in love with Ms. Burnell’s “fairies tangles” a while back. When I found out that Lynette was going to carry the stamps, I went to town. Now you can also get them in digital format too. For my project I used the digital format.

Posy was a joy to work with. She did not need too many embellishments, but just enough so that you do not lose sight of Posy. I colored her with Copics and did some glitter accenting with a gel pen. I trimmed and layered Posy on red and black cardstock. The last touches were some designer paper, corner die cuts, and flat-backed pearls. I hope you like her.

Variation Week with Jane

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase an image from Sweet Pea Stamps for our Variation Week.  This week all the DT are creating an item using the fabulous digi 'Posy' by Norma Burnell.

My daughter and SIL's 5th Wedding Anniversary is coming up and so I have to make them a card :) I don't fancy a traditional hearts based one so I am going to create this card around their wedding theme instead (colour wise that is).

To begin with I coloured the digi with Promarkers

Next onto my favourite technique at the moment - using my rolling pin and an embossing folder to emboss only the areas I want and not have an all over effect and the amount of pressure to create the desired result.  Here I am using and Embossilicious folder.

I don't want a plain background and instead of air brushing as usual I have used the Spellbinder die Fantastic Flourish Two to make a stencil.  Alas I forgot to take photo of the end result but that was probably because I was not very happy with the outcome.  I airbrushed with Burgandy to match the digi and the ribbon I will be using which was from one of the original rolls of organza ribbon used to make my daughters wedding invites :)  Looking at the end result it was much to harsh, so coffee and a rethink was in order.  In the end I used white mulberry paper with a gold thread running through it to cover the card, this allowed the burgundy to show throw just a wee bit.  I then cut some of the original paper from my daughters wedding card I made (each year I make her and SIL a card which has the same ribbon and the wedding paper incorporated into it - yep I am a sentimentalist lol) using the same Spellbinder die.

Time to create the mounts for the digi and I finished off with Liquid pearls.

 While the pearls were drying I made the tag which will be partially hidden under the mount.

Needing something else and it had to be flowers lol.  I used  Marianne Designs Creatables LR0106, Flower set  and Lavender.  The flower petals were airbrushed with Promarkers to match the flowers in the digi and then assembled.  Some pearls were also added and a few gems.

 And here we have the finished creation.
