Connie-from the Gum Drop Gang Plate #15

So where are the Gum Drop Gang you ask?

Actually I only used the verse that comes with this plate #15 by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The abstract-looking flower image you see is where I put some pretty Marigolds

between my Cuttlebug plates C and B (no embossing folders used) on top

of a piece of white cardstock by Cryogen and ran it all through the 

Cuttlebug.

I ended up with a splash (in more ways than one which I will tell you about next!)

of color in the shape of a flower.  I only used black Memento ink for the verse, no other ink was used.

I scraped off the petals after it had all dried and overstamped the verse.

I will dry the flowers a little first next time as they were so wet it literally 

SPLASHED onto my embossing plates and had to be scrubbed off!

The Cryogen paper has a glimmer to it that really is lovely 

against the splashy flower imprint I think.

Artist Soul.....

Hi everyone! I decided for today's post to give some love to Hayden and Cameron from the Gum Drop Gang. I totally love those cuties and feel bad that I've been neglecting them - not on purpose mind you....

This is Hayden being an artist and she is part of Plate #15. The moment I saw this stamp, I knew I had to have this plate. With my oldest granddaughter, Emma being an artist, how could I not?

I had this stamp all colored but was still deciding if I should redo it. I had used another type of card stock to stamp the image onto. The copics colored ok on this card stock, except for the dark blue.... it bled a bit. I generally always use Neenah Crest Smooth 80lb card stock, Solar White or Millstone. This time however, I used Mohawk Expression 80lb. It feels thinner than the Neenah and it feels just as smooth as the Neenah, but it reacts a little different to the copic inks. That's not bad, just means I have to adjust how I color/blend with my copics. :-).
I also decided to create a half circle card just for something different. Ok I admit, actually I made a booboo and this was a way to salvage the card. Mistakes are good, right? I did take the sentiment and cut it in half to balance the card by adding the first part of the sentiment to the top and the other part to the bottom. Quick, simple card. It's Hayden from the Gumdrop Gang! She got a wonderful art set for Christmas and now she's ready to create. I always loved getting art kits when I was a child. And, when I think about it, I still do!

This stamp come from plate #15 . I stamped it with Memento ink onto thick white cardstock and then used Copic markers to color the image. I wanted to use many shades of blue on this card so I used several shades in the image and then layered it onto blue paper. I used blue cardstock to make the card and blue buttons as accents.

The Gum Drop Gang

are out today keeping busy during their Christmas vacation. Today's cards features the Gum Drop Gang sheet #15. It is such a cute and versatile set of images that are perfect for scrapping also. The images were colored with Derwent and Prisma colored pencils. Most of the papers are Daisy D's. The brads are Queen & Co. Add some rub ons and coordinating stickers for two simple, fun cards. Here's to keeping our sanity while the kids are at home this week!

 

Artist Hayden

The easel card format seemed especially appropriate for using with this image of Hayden painting. It also allows the picture to be the primary focus and decoration. This one is going in my stack of Valentine's Day cards. I am going to be doing many more Valentine's Day cards featuring Hayden and Cameron. Did you see the new sheet that is perfect for this? Get Well Soon

Here's a cute and simple Get Well paper piecing that I made using a stamp from plate #15



To make this card, first stamp the image four times: once on blue textured cardstock, once on printed red paper, once on brown cardstock, and once on white paper. I cut out the "jeans" from the blue image, the "shirt" from the red image, the hair/shoes from the brown image and adhered them all to the white image. I then colored in the face and arms of the image with Copic markers.

I layered my paper piecing on blue and then red paper. I stamped the get well saying from sheet #10 .

He Loves me!

Can you remember being a little girl and picking up a flower, pulling the petals one by one as you said "He loves me, He loves me not". Ohhh how we wished the flower would end with "HE LOVES ME!!" Well, this cute cat from Plate 15 loves you!


The cat is actually part of a larger image, but he was so cute that I thought he deserved a card all his own. I inked only the cat portion of the stamp and then used a large circle punch to cut it out. I layered the circle with another slightly large punch. I found a huge daisy flower so I could put my kitty in the center. I stamped the "Loves me, Loves me not" stamp on white card stock and trimmed it out. I layered it on the same color paper as the circle punch. I used some gorgeous printed paper from DCWV as my card base.
Project Materials: Cardstock (DCWV); Rubber Stamps (Sweet Pea Stamps); Ink (Momenta); Color (Watercolor pencils); Buttons (American Craft); Mustard ribbon, Popdots.

Hayden the Artist

I believe that art is one of the truest forms of expression available. I love to encourage it and creativity and art for PLAY with my children and everyone!!! I have only discovered how much fun it is myself in the last few years and I feel like I missed so much! When I saw this image of Hayden painting I was just so excited! Then I got to play with it!!!! What a treat!
This is plate #15 with the Gum Drop Gang. There is also an image of Cameron and a couple of fabulous quotes!
