This lovely image is by ching-chou kuik and is titled
"Kimono Butterfly Mermaid"
You will find it in plate #54 by clicking below:
I began this card by first picking my papers and finding it is much easier to match inks with papers than the reverse.
I knew I wanted to do an aqua colored theme so it was easy to pick and choose.
I cut along a curvy line on one paper and used a Martha Stewart punch on another. On a third paper I cut a Spellbinder die "Classic Frame" and smooshed aqua and gold inks on it after stamping the
verse included with this plate.
Only then did I begin coloring the image. To bring out the green of the background I had to color her hair green of course. The Big Green Brad that I got from a swap helped also.
I think it brings out the "seaweed theme."
Having this much fun with rubber stamps really ought to be illegal!
I adore how you used the sentiment as a background stamp and her green hair is captivating! Way to think out of the box!

it is easier to match inks to paper isn't it, but I generally do it the other way around too.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the sentiment stamp as a background. Love your papers and definitely love your green hair.

Love her green hair Connie!!! I am loving all he soft colors you used and the sentiment stamped all over the frame looks great!! I agree with you it should be illegal to have so much fun with stamps but I'm so glad its not or I'd be going to jail for sure!!LOL!!

ReplyDeleteI love how you share your thought process from picking the papers through to your color choices on the design. Makes me think about how I do my own designs and how I could think differently!
