ATCs

Here I have a quick project perfect to bring on a vacation :) Stamp up some images, bring your favorite colouring medium, maybe some glitter and you're set. I stamped the images on a bit heavier paper and cut them the right size for ATCs (artist trading cards) Since I always colour my images to match the patterned paper I use I never colour them in advance. So this is a perfect project if I just feel like practicing my colouring skills or I'm off somewhere for the weekend.

Connie-Funky Mermaid

Isn't this the most outrageous mermaid you ever saw??  Talk about a fish with an attitude!  You will find the entire plate HERE
I was playing with a new punch set that reminded me of seashells....
I folded a piece of text paper into quarters and punched my shape, then unfolded and used it as a template for sponging around my mermaid image.  I stamped a Sweet Pea saying on the Prima flower before adding a button and some sparkly fibers.  
Colored with Copics and at the last minute (I could not resist) placed a small rhinestone on her belly button for even more pizazz!!
To tell you the truth, she just looked like a mermaid who would have a body piercing!!

September Rhythm in February

The image I used is September Rhythm and like so many, ok practically ALL, of the ching-chou kuiks Fantasy Art Collection, I just love her eyes! This quote was just the perfect addition. The quote is part of sheet #6 of the collection.

Giving thanks

Give thanks with this special stamp and sentiment available on Sweet Pea plate #2. I love the images and sentiments that are on this plate.
I stamped the image onto a multi-colored background with black India ink and trimmed slightly larger than the image itself. I stamped the sentiment onto a small piece of gold card stock. I mounted both pieces onto blue card stock, and then edged with a black marker. I mounted the sentiment onto one more layer, the same background I had stamped the image onto. I edged the layer with black marker again. I like the polished look that the edging created. I attached both pieces to a blue card and then wrapped coordinating fiber around the spine and around the front panel of the card between the mounted image and the sentiment. And for one last little detail I attached a gold butterfly charm with a glue dot.

Come Softly Gift Card Holder

Gift cards are a popular choice for gift giving ideas. I wanted to create a gift card holder that would be as fun to receive as the gift card itself!
I used the Come Softly image from the Ching-Chou Kuik collection that is available on Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #25.
Before stamping the image I colored the entire gift card using a combination of distress inks and homemade pearl-ex watercolor sprays. I rubbed several distress ink pads onto a craft sheet, sprayed with water, and pressed the card holder into the mixture. After drying this application with a heat gun, I sprayed the card holder with the pearl-ex watercolor sprays. I still wasn't quite happy with the coloring so I sponged china blue distress ink around all the edges of the gift card holder. Okay, now I was happy! Once the paper was dry I stamped the Come Softly image using India Ink black. I wasn't crazy about how the coloring looked on the image so then I painted some areas using twinkling H2O's and added highlights with a glitter pen.
I used a Cuttlebug border embossing folder on the bottom edge of the front flap.
Here the top flap is opened, but the bottom flap still closed. On that bottom flap I stamped one of the sentiments that is available on plate #25.







On the inside of the top flap I attached an embossed piece. I used a piece of Core 'Dinations paper, ran it through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder, trimmed the piece to fit on the flap, and sanded it to reveal the purple color that is on the reverse side of the paper.
With the bottom flap of the gift card holder opened you can see the center section where the gift card is placed.

Butterflies and Birthdays

I think butterflies and birthdays are a great combination... and take a look at this image from Sweet Pea plate #2!!!
On this birthday card I stamped the image onto white glossy paper that was lightly sponged with pale pinks and blues. In fact, so light that I think it may be difficult to see in this picture. I used a pink marker to add more color to both butterflies. I got out my Cuttlebug and used a butterfly die and embossing folder to create the butterfly I attached to the front of the card. I lightly rubbed a dark peony chalk ink pad across the butterfly to catch the raised areas. I also ran a piece of core'dinations black magic card stock through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. After the piece was embossed I sanded the piece to reveal the deep pink core of the paper. I used a decorative corner punch and attached a pink ribbon to the right edge of the core'dinations piece before assembling all the pieces onto the pink card. I used the dark peony chalk ink pad to color the edges of the pink card.


For this card I stamped the image onto a piece of multi-colored background. After trimming the image I mounted onto a slightly larger piece of dark blue card stock and then onto a piece of gold card stock. I attached the mounted piece near the top of the dark blue card. I took a strip of the dark blue card and ran it through the Cuttlebug with a border embossing folder. I attached it to a slightly larger piece of the gold card stock using matching flower brads. I then attached the strip to the bottom of the card. I like the clean and simple look of this card.





For this card I stamped the image onto a piece of alcohol ink background. After trimming the image I mounted onto a slightly larger piece of metallic silver card stock and then onto a slightly larger piece of dark blue card stock. I ran a narrow piece of the same metallic silver card stock through the Cuttlebug with an embossing border folder and then mounted onto dark blue card stock. Before attaching both pieces to the blue card, I sponged iris blue chalk ink to the blue card to add some texture to the card.

Love is...a Valentine

Here's one of ching-chou kuik's Fanasy Art stamps from plate # 22. I paired it with the "Love is" quote from Plate #17. It makes a beautiful Valentine.



I started with a large sized corrugated card from Paper Pallete. I took two ribbons, a black ribbon and a thinner red ribbon. Because the card is corrugated, it would be hard to attach the ribbon directly to it. I cut a thin strip of paper just a little smaller than the black ribbon. I used ribbon glue to adhere the ribbon to the paper strip and then glued the red ribbon on top of the black ribbon. I then used regular adhesive to attach the paper strip to the card.
