Randi and Connie have inspired me to break out the spray inks to create some glimmer background paper for the beautiful ©Elaine Cox Black Butterfly Fairy from Plate #34.
After coloring my image with copics, I used my glitter pens to go over the butterflies and flowers and used glittery dimensional paint on her wings. Unfortunately, I could not get a good enough picture to show the glitter. I then edged the image panel with Distress Ink. Added the black card stock panel which I then adhered onto the scalloped rectangular panel. Added black grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of the panel. I found the metal heart embellishment which I tied onto the ribbon with black threat. Instead of adding ribbon bows, I pulled out some vellum die cut butterflies which a friend had send me. It was then that I decided to pull out my spray inks and 'play'.
Used a pizza box to help shield my table top (ah, I am needing to get me a box or something, lo)
and just randomly sprayed Memories Ink and Glimmer Mist onto the butterflies. While these were drying, I grabbed a sheet of Xerox #32 Pearlized Elegance paper and spritzed away on it.
Because it's regular weight paper, it warped and curled a bit. I just used my craft iron, sandwiched the treated paper between newsprint and dried it. The picture above is my feeble attempt to capture the glimmer and shine on the pearlized paper (the smaller pieces). The larger paint splattered sheet in the background is the newsprint which I will use in the future. I will just glue it onto card stock then trim it down to whatever size I need. I actually do that with regular weight copy or printer paper. Here's a closer look at the vellum butterflies.
I actually enjoyed playing with the spray inks but like I said earlier....definitely have to find a way to 'contain' the spray. Thanks for stopping by - I'm off to, ahem, clean my craft space.
