Elaine Cox - Katie

Here is a card that I have made using a Sweet Pea Stamps Elaine Cox image called Katie.  I have used the rubber stamp (she is also available as a plate rubber stamp (Plate 85) and Katie comes on the plate with Miranda, Bess and Maggie) but she is also available as a digital stamp.  I have coloured the image in with my Promarkers/Flexmarkers and highlighted areas with my Pan Pastels.  The backing papers I have used I was given.  I have laid the image on some card which I embossed with a flower embossing folder.  I have used my Tim Holtz On The Edge Butterfly Dye and spread over Peeled Paint Distress Stickles (no matter what I did with my photos the Stickles look pink but they are green!!).  I have finished the card off with some flowers, buttons, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment, lace and a gingham ribbon bow.

Soft look with dry chalks

I feel like I have gotten a bit stuck in the same technique of coloring with promarkers and using patterned papers for my cards. So today I made a quite simple card, but with a new twist. I used a versamark inkpad to stamp up Elaine Cox's Katie from plate 85 and rubbed it in different colored chalks to give the subtle look. I chose stronger papers in the same shades which I think enhances the softness of the image. It doesn't always have to be advanced with lots of papers and layers. Sometimes all you need is a new technique to get great and different results.

Blushing...

I hope you are all staying warm wherever you are and 2011 is treating you well.  My card today is by Sweet Pea Stamps and is Elaine Cox's "Katie" from her portrait collection.  You can purchase her alone of with 3 other amazing stamps.   I just love the ethereal beauty these portraits have.  They are truly a joy to KREATE with.

I didn't want to take away from her radiance so I kept my layout and details to a minimum.  Colored with copics and a hint of glossy accents on her eyes and mouth.  Her lavish wings were covered with glitter and a touch on her bodice.  Double matting and a sheer organza bow finish everything off.  I hope you too appreciate her beauty!!!
