Dream of Iris

Hi Everyone,

I decided to create something other than a card. I used some Maya Road chipboard, ribbon and colored chin-chou kuik's Dream of Iris:

Dream of Iris is stamped onto watercolor paper and colored with watercolors. Wanting something a little different, I used Spellbinders Peony die to diecut the image.

I used Wild Plum Paint Dabber followed by Dusty Concord Distress Stain on the chipboard piece and set that aside to dry. The large flower diecut from deep purple card stock was from my stash. I curled the petals and then used Perfect Pearl Mist to add some shimmer. I also added some to the now dried chipboard.

Then I found a piece of white crepe paper and randomly spritzed it with Wild Plum and Sailboat Blue Adirondack Color Wash.

The crepe paper is attached to the back of the image panel which I then adhered to the large flower. The scalloped chipboard is the bottom layer. I added some rhinestones and purple ribbon and voila, I now will have some beautiful enchantment while driving to work - I'll be hanging this beauty from my rear view mirror :-).

Butterfly Dragon

I fell in love with this cute little dragon from the first time I saw him. It is 'Butterfly Dragon' from the gorgeous Lisa Victoria Fantasy Collection at Sweet Pea Stamps. He comes on plate # 117 together with another gorgeous image, and himself as a mini as well. And is available as a single stamp as well. 

I coloured him on 300 gram watercolour paper with Distress Inks. The papers for the background are from Penny Lane and from Basic Grey's porcelain collection. The flowers and bling are from local stores. As a finish I added some stickles to his wings, flower and his cheek.

Isn't he so cute??

Modern happy easter

Spring is here to stay and with Easter just around the corner it might be a good time to have at least one card done. Today I would like to show you a card with a slightly different layout. I have used a standard square sketch, but folded the card several times adding dimension. You can see the layout of the card better on the last picture. I have used a stamp called jeweled by ching chou kuik from one of my favourite plates #86.

I really like the colours of this card. They are still the typical Easter yellow and purple, but I think the hues gives the card a more contemporary feel. The patterned papers go so well together and it's funny because they are from two completely different lines. I just accidentally put them next to each other while sorting my papers and tadaa. With those colours I didn't feel like I needed bunnies or eggs, the card would look "eastery" enough. So I decided to go all in with the butterfly theme, using it on both papers, punches and the image.

The tools I have used are Martha Stewart punches for the corners and the butterfly border. The image is coloured with promarkers and then a sakura clear glitter pen. The image is mounted on a green panel with foam tape to add extra dimension and then taped to the front panel of the card. The little green scrolly nameplate is a spellbinder die. Doesn't it go just perfectly with the background paper? The sentiment is written by hand and on my first try! Practicing makes perfect, that's for sure. A wonderful card that could easily be used for any other occasion.

Moonlight Fairy

Lately, I have been having a lot of fun just coloring up images.  Now it is time to turn them into something.  This image is Moonlight Fairy by Caron Vinson for Sweet Pea Stamps. 

Sometimes the paper and images just pair themselves up with no effort on my part and this was one of those times.  This fairy was certainly a red head and the Bo Bunny Timepiece paper pack had the perfect red and browns for her personality.  The end result is very simple, but I'm loving it.  Hope you do too!
