Dragon Keeper at Sweet Pea Stamps

Aletha here with an inspiration piece for today. I chose an image from one of my favorite artists Charmaine Flannery. Her images are so much fun to work with. I think what I like about Ms. Flannery images are her facial features and subject matter. Sweet Pea Stamps has her art at rubber stamps or digital images, whichever media you want to create with.

My image, Dragon Keeper, was colored with Copics. I added some accents with glitter pens and a white gel pen. After trimming the image, distressing with Distressed Ink, I layered Dragon Keeper on several layers of cardstock.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04,11, 21, R20
Hair: E21, 25, 29
Wings and Dragon:
YR01, 12, 16, 18, and
BG11, 13, 15, 18, 49

To complete my piece I layered designer paper on several pieces of cardstock and mounted it on my card base. I then added a strip of designer paper to that and attached the main image. For my embellishments I added pearls, mini metal dragonflies, and a few die cut swirls. I did not have any “orange” pearls, so I decided to color six pearls with a YR18 Copic. Now my pearls matched my design.

My complete recipe:
  • Digital image Dragon Keeper
  • Copics, glitter pens, white gel pen
  • Designer paper: DCWV, Inc., the Mariposa Collection
  • Cardstock: Stampin’ Up!’s Only Orange and Island Indigo
  • Charms: Dragonflies from Frost Creek Charms
  • Ink: Peacock Feathers Distress Ink
  • Die cuts: Spellbinder’s Die D-Lites Corners and Accents 2
  • Pearls: my stash
