Steampunk Bee

Hi Everyone,

It took me a while but I finally had the "opportunity"
(ahem, meaning I didn't clean the house but sat and colored)
to color this gorgeous steampunk bee from Brigid Ashwood's Sheet 4, Plate #105:

Instead of using Copics as my coloring medium, I used Distress Ink Reinkers and a waterbrush. The image is stamped onto 130lb watercolor paper with Staz On ink. I squirted several drops of the Distress Inks onto a disposable plate and just started to have fun. The great thing about watercoloring is that it gives your project a total different look.

And with this method of coloring I don't have to worry too much about messing up, like coloring outside the lines. Although I will admit, it took me a couple of tries to get the 'feel' of watercoloring. I really like how it came out and with any of the beautiful stamps available at Sweet Pea Stamps, it's so much fun to experiment with colors and mediums.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the sales at Sweet Pea Stamps.

  2. Wonderful Micki! Seems we grab for the Copics first doesn't it? I will have to find my brushes and watercolor papers and give this a try.
I like how you used that border punch. I have one and wonder how to use it more...now I know!
