When I'm old I'll wear purple

Today's image is one of the older ones from ching-chou kuik called come softly from plate 25. I'm very excited about all the new releases, but sometimes the older stamps are forgotten and they are just as beautiful, don't you agree?

This time I came up with the idea of using a plain white background, but with embossing or some kind of pattern. The images from sweet pea are PERFECT for these kinds of cards. I love how they pop from the card and aren't overshadowed by papers, colours or embellishments. Just a perfect harmony. I'll definitely do more of these types of cards (if I can remember that, lol)

I started out by colouring the moth and the girl's skin. When it came to choosing colour for her hair I wanted to be wild and use something fantasy-like. Then I wanted the swirls to match nicely and before I knew it it turned out to be a purple/red image. I'm not that familiar with the meaning behind my title, but I know I've seen funny images of old ladies wearing red and purple.

  1. Very nice Katarina. A nice combo with the softly embossed all-white back and the dramatically colored focal image.
Funny but the red/purple colors didn't make me think of "old ladies"?

  10. Wow! You mentioned "perfect harmony" and I think that totally describes your beautiful card! I love that subtle textured background and how you colored the image so it pops, yet is still so harmonious with the paper! :-)Traci
