Coral Immersion

Hello everyone, today I want to show you a card I just made with an older but not less amazing stamp designed by the fabulous ching-chou kuik's. It is 'Coral Immersion', and is available as a single stamp, and on Plate # 41 together with three other wonderful image.

I coloured the image with Copics and wanted to keep a red and grey tones colour scheme.

Multi coloured blocking

I've had so much fun playing with today's card. It's a technique I've never used before I think and I came up with it all on my own (although I had inspiration) I'm proud of it and thought I'd share it with you.

If you're not very happy with your colouring of the sweetpea images  - you don't have to be! There are so many ways to use your stamps and this is one of them.

I started by inking different stamps in different bold coloured inks on white paper and embossing them with clear embossing powder. After the powder has cooled off I inked the whole image with a contrasting colour with a direct-to-paper technique (which means you dab the inkpad directly on the paper) When I was happy with the result I wiped the images to remove any ink that was left on the raised embossed part. This will make the images pop. Finally I cut out different sized blocks and mounted them together. I added the little ribbon and bow to add some more interest to the card.

It's a super easy technique and I hope you'll give it a go. All you need is some embossable inks (I used small versacolor) and some clear embossing powder. Have fun!

Coral Immersion

Greetings! Here's a wonderful image today from artist ching-chou kuik called Coral Immersion (Plate #41). This is a beautiful mermaid that is so enchanting. I added an elegant saying to this card "Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth. Mark Twain"Ohh, that saying is so inspiring and the look in this woman's eyes makes me want to do these things. I added some simple flowers from Prima and adorable brads from Bo Bunny along with some Bazzill Swiss paper. A little ink brushed on the edges of the paper and the images stands out. As the sailors used to say, the mermaids would call out to them. I think looking at the eyes of this mermaid, she does call out to you.

I adore you

Today I made a quite simple card using Cheshire cat illusion from plate 41. It's another one of those images that is included if you want to participate in our Alice in wonderland/little red riding hood contest. I used the same colours and papers that I used for my Mad tea party in a box. Since this card is a bit smaller than standard size it would be great to use as a gift card with the box.

The image is coloured with promarkers, the text is handwritten and inked with a distress ink.

Mad tea party in a box

This week I've been inspired to make something other than a card. I saved this old chocolate box knowing I wanted to alter it. It has a clear window that I wanted to accentuate. I used a stamp from ching chou kuik called mad tea party (plate #41) I originally also coloured Cheshire cat illusion, but couldn't make it work so I skipped it and replaced it with flowers and flourishes.

The box was very simple to decorate: I used one sheet of patterned, glittery 12x12" paper which I cut to match the front of the box. I hand cut the aparture with a craft knife and distressed all the edges. I coloured the image with promarkers to match the colours of the paper. Don't you just love the vibrant colours? I cut out a few flourishes using a die in matching cardstock and found some bigger flowers and buttons to match. I assembled it all together adding paper to the sides as well and two pieces of ribbon. I'm thinking to glue two magnetic snaps to keep the box shut. Finally I added some glitter to some of the details and tadaaa - a perfect place to keep your stamped up images. The box is about 8x8" (20x20cm)

Angela, Silk Dance ,Coral Immersion, The Dragonfly and Fox Allure

I created 4 cards I wanted to share with you. This first one is called Silk Dance by ching chou kuik's Sheet #19/Plate #54 at Sweet Pea Stamps.

The DP is from Glitz Design called Diva Licious. I used the Spellbinders Classic Frame Die to create my frame and covered it pink glitter glue. I drew in alittle more of her tail and her hip and leg area. Then I cut her out and attached her with foam tape. I added some Black bling swirls and some Wild Orchid Craft roses that I added some glitter glue and glitter to.

Here is my second card I created. I have had these image colored for over 2 months and finally sit down to create with her. This image is called Coral Immersion by ching chou kuiks sheet #12/ plate #41 at Sweet Pea Stamps. I used some In My Minds Eye DP that I cut out the circle and flowers and attached them to some dark coral CS then I used my sewing machine to add the stitching around the edge of the card. I added some Fiskars cream bubble dots and the sentiment is from another ching chou kuiks set.

It has been so hot and sunny here, that I decided to take these pictures outside. I finished these early this morning before I went to bed for the night, as I usually take my pictures at night. Only because by the time I get my creation finished its dark outside. I really like the way they look when I can take the pics outside.

For this card I used " The Dragonfly" circle stamp by ching chou kuiks at Sweet Pea Stamps. I love these new circle stamps!!

I used some K&Company Dp, MS border punch, flower from Wild Orchid Crafts, the decorative part around the image was created with a small die from on of my Spellbinders Pendant dies. I added some gold bling to the die around the image and some gold Organdy ribbon. The was colored with copics and I used and orange sakura glitter pen. I used a new skin colored combo, well to me it's new (R30,R01,R00,R0000). Hair (E07,E08,E09,E19,E18,E51) Background(Y21,Y23,YR32,E50,E51)

Here is my 4th card. I had the hardest time getting a good picture.. this was the best I could get. I used Fox Allure for this card and she is available as a single or you can get her in a set with 3 other images( Sheet #22/ Plate #64) at Sweet Pea Stamps.

For this card I used some old Basic Grey DP, American Crafts brown CS, My Minds Eye orange DP, Kraft CS that I inke with distressing inks for the frame for my image. I added some Prima leaves and the roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I also added some Orange bling and some felt flower looking things.

A bit about me....

I live in a small village in the State of Wisconsin in the United States a bit north of Milwaukee called Belgium and have been married for 7 years to my husband Michael, am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 13 beautiful babies! I enjoy working in many types of medium and have had my hand in just about all types of crafting as far back as I can remember and that is pretty far back!!! My favorite thing to do is color. I guess I just never outgrew my so call box of colors, they just cost more now! Give me some copics and I am in heaven!!!!!!  I fancy searching the web looking for new and exciting techniques and then taking my little scraps and creating a piece of art! A Very Sparkly Mad Tea Party

Stamp: Ching-Chou Kuik's "Mad Tea Party"

Ching-Chou Kuik's FAC images are so beautifully detailed and you can use them with so many mediums. Here, I simply stamped the image and then sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in: Sweet Clover, Patina, Peach Delight, and Pink Bubblegum. To get those heavy blobs of color, I spray close to the paper, about an inch or two away from the paper. Once the image was dry, I edged it with Versamagic in Jumbo Java. The background is embossed with one of the new Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders. And, wow, are black roses difficult to photograph!

.....and that is just for the cutting part!

Also used were Copics for color, pillow stickers by 

K & Company "Elegance Black Glitter",

metallic dots by JoAnn's and white Cryogen cardstock.

This cardstock was made for Copic markers as they slide on so smoothly and the sheen is out-of-this-world pretty IRL!

Introducing Lisa Cook!

Today we welcome Lisa Cook to the Sweet Pea Stamps design team!

A little about me.
I am a stay at home mom of two teenagers. My dear husband and I have been married 19 years. I'm so lucky to have a family that is supportive of my stamping addiction. They don't even complain that my crafting area hogs the most space in our basement.
I have been stamping for 12 years now. I love all different sorts of stamps, but tend to focus on images that need coloring. My medium of choice is Copic marker. I do enjoy colored pencils, water color pencils and painting with inks.
I have been a fan of Sweet Pea Stamps for a long time and feel so lucky to be creating for Lynette. I look forward to sharing my work with everyone and finding inspiration from those already here too!

How I mount and store my Sweet Peas

Hi everyone! It's Angela here and I wanted to share with you a tutorial on how I mount my plain raw rubber Sweet Pea's. First I cut out all my images then I turn them upside down. I did all my newest images outside as the weather was just too pretty to stay inside.

I use Aleene's 'TACK-IT' Over & Over glue. You can purchase it at Michaels that's were I got mine. You can probably find it on some on-line stores. I know Joann and Hobby Lobby carries the Aleene's glue but NOT the TACK- IT Over & Over glue. And that's what you need. Just to warn you this glue is VERY, VERY sticky. So keep a wet rag handy. Make sure you shake the glue up GOOD or it will be watery.

You will need a brush to apply the glue over the rubber. Any small to med. paint brush will work.

I just squeeze a small amount on the back of my stamps and brush all over the rubber, you may need to add more glue or less depending on the amount you need.

After you have applied the glue all over in even coats let them dry for at least an hour or longer just to make sure they are completely dry. When dry they will be sticky and you can attach then to your acrylic blocks if you want to stamp right away or they are ready for storage.

And I am going to show you what I use to store them on/in.

I use these clear plastic storage containers called Scrap Onizer's. I purchased mine at Unity Stamps but you can Google them and find them at other places. This was the cheapest place I found them at. You will also need to purchase the clear folders to attach them to. They come just like any other folder, but to get the best use out of them I cut them in half where they bend over. That way I have 2 pieces and I can lay them on top of each other. Here is a picture of one of the folders before I cut it in half.

After I have cut them in half they are ready to be attached to the clear folder and ready for storage. When you want to use one, just pull it off the folder, stamp, clean and stick back.

Here's a picture to show you where I started sticking my stamps to the folder. And you can see glue where the light is hitting the dry glue.

I turned the folder up side down to show you they are stuck and not going anywhere.

I also use the bottom of the storage container and stick some of my stamps to it. As it is made out of the same stuff. Then you can just start stacking up the folder halves on top of it.

Here is a picture to show you the container from the side. They are only about an 1" to 1.5" thick and can be stood up like a book. I have tried alot of different way's to store and attach my plain rubber stamps and this is by far the best to me that I have tried. I even use these container to storage my foam mounted rubber stamps. These storage containers works great for both. And the Aleene's TACK IT Over & Over glue is under $5 a bottle and this bottle goes a long way.

Well I just wanted to show you how I store my stamps and how I attach them to my acrylic blocks for stamping. I never have to worry about losing a stamp either and I can see through the containers. I also take a marker and write the stamp company on the spine of my containers. Here is a picture of how they look stood up on my shelf.

Today I also have a card to share that I colored last week and finished this week. I used Enchanting Gold by ching-chou kuiks fantasy art collection at Sweet Pea Stamps (plate #41).

Isn't she jsut beautiful? I get lost every time I color on of these images. Just the way they start to come to life. This is a pretty big image and I had so much fun with her.
