Jane presents Lil Zeba's Floral Parasol by Heather Valentin

Morning folks and my turn to share with you a creation for this week.  Continuing with my journals for my kids I have designed this page using Lil Zeba's Floral Parasol by Heather Valentin available in both rubber and as a digi.

To begin with I coloured the image using polychromos.
Next I prepeared my journal pages with white Gesso.  Now all the time I was colouring the image the chorus from the song 'Oh What A Beautiful Morning' kept repeating in my head.  I guess that was a subtle hint that I should include the words on my journal page hahahaha.  With the chorus in mind I decided to create a background of zebra stripes and use different textures for each of the black stripes then write the text in some of the white areas.  For my textures I used black acrylic paint applied thickly (that is the shiny bit, alas could not get a good pic as the light kept reflecting off it), black velvet patterned paper, black ribbon, black lace and black beads.
 I also used black glitter.
As the image had a button for one eye I decided to use a real button.
To link in with the button on the image I then covered the bottom left black stripe with lots more pink buttons.
A pretty simple page but at this point I felt adding anything else would just not work so walked away before I started playing and adding more items lol.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Lil Zeba's Floral Parasol by Heather Valentin
  • Colouring medium - Polychromos and acrylic paint
  • From my stash - buttons, lace, velvet paper, acrylic paint, glitter, beads, ribbon

Linda presents PH 521 By Arthouse Designs

Linda Tagg Mixed Media 2015
Pool Party Invitation

Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils
Odorless Mineral Spirits
Textured Cardstock
Sizzix Script Alphabet Dies
Chalk Pastels

I colored this cute sunbathing frog digital image (Arthouse Designs PH 521) with Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils and blended the colors with Odorless Mineral Spirits.  To create the sky and water, I used a soft cloth to apply several shades of blue chalk pastels.  The coordinating letters were created by blending blue chalk pastels onto a piece of white textured cardstock before die cutting the letters.

Holley presents Marigold Sprite from artist Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Here's an awesome image from Sweet Pea stamps artist Mitzi Sato-Wiuff (Aurora Wings).  This adorable image is called Marigold Sprite. I just love that this image is Dia De Los Muertos theme. How awesome is that?  Dia De Los Muertos is the first weekend of Nov, so you still have time to make some beautiful creations for it.   Be sure to check out the original artist coloring on the website so you see my variation.  I added a simple sentiment "I'll never forget how perfect you are."

Here's a close up of this stamp, currently sold as a rubber stamp, colored with copic markers.
This week the entire design team is using stamps from Mitzi on the blog, be sure and check out all of their creations, as well as checking them out on the Sweet Pea stamps Friends and Fans facebook page.

Jane present Poppy Elf by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Morning peeps, how's your day doing :) :) :) Today I am sharing with you a birthday card I have made for my daughter using the image Poppy Elf by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff available from the store in rubber.

To begin with I coloured the image with Polychromos

Next I took some purple card for my base and added a red mat.  I then mounted my image on black, red and purple.  For the black mat of the card I first embossed it and the added some Purple Pan Pastels to highlight some of the embossed texture.  Red organza ribbon, purple lace and a string of pearls were added to form a border at the base of the card.  With these elements of the card ready I turned to die cutting and used the most beautiful poppy die by Memory Box and white card.  The die is really an outline of a poppy so I kept all the cut out pieces from the poppy and coloured them red.  The outline section of the die was then coloured with red where the poppy leaves are and green for the leaves and swirls.  Now for the finishing touches :) with the elements all stuck in place I added a Happy Birthday sentiment and a lovely red bow and finally 4 purple heart gems.

For the inside of the card I used the same colours, the black corner die is from Tattered Lace and called Chantilly Diamond.  Another 3 purple hearts were added and a few red stickles to bring the colours together in this area.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Poppy Elf by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff
  • colouring medium - Polychromos
  • dies - Memory Box Poppy, Tattered Lace Chantilly Diamond and Spellbinders Happy Birthday and Circles
  • from my stash - lace, pearls, organza ribbon, Stickles and gems

Tera presents 'Feral' by Rebecca Sinz

Hallo,

I have had this image for quite some time in rubber form and just recently also got it in digi form, hadn't colored them up in awhile and I really like this one a lot!!!
This image is by Rebecca Sinz and is called 'Feral' - I colored it with a combination of prismacolor and polychrome pencils
I layered the image to a shimmery gold cardstock and edged both layers with gold metallic pen. I also added some sticker for a bit of accent.
Too bad I cant sit and color for a couple hour every day - I seem to go in spurts, right now I have a bunch of images colored and needing to get made into projects so guess I had better get back to the craft room.
  Take Care
