Variations Week: Jennifer's View

Hi, this is my take on Karen Middleton's image, Red, White and Blue from Plate #161.

The image was colored with copics, the yellow paper and flower are prima and the purple just some scraps I found in my stash, flourish comes from bobunny and buttons are BG. I hope you have enjoyed your visit today - I love hearing or at least seeing your comments! Have a great weekend!

Variations Week: Alex's View

I think this image is just adorable.  I know it is called Red, White and Blue, but I had to try different colors.  Mostly because I am a rebel like that ;).

This is one of the few times I actually colored the image before picking the papers.  I only do that about 1 in 10 times, but love the end result on this one and it was a bonus to get to use my star dies cuts and add a bit of brad bling as well.

Get Inky!
Alex

Variations Week: Kym's View

It is time for Variations Week.  All of the Design Team are given the same image to use in their own way and each day on the Sweet Pea Stamps Blog you see different creations.  I obviously love Sweet Pea Stamps but I always looked forward to this week of the month to see the variety of creations - now being part of the Design Team I get to take part.
This month the image that we have been given to use is called "Red, White and Blue" and is by the talented Artist Karen Middleton.  The image is available in a rubber stamp. I decided I wanted to keep the colour scheme to red, white and blue as per the name of the stamp as I love this colour scheme.  I have coloured the image with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Sakura Stardust pen.
The backing papers I have used were a freebie last year with the DoCrafts Creativity Magazine for our Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  It also included a sheet of little postcards so I have used one of these and torn it in half.  I have finished the card off with some Papermania Glitterations, selection of buttons, red/white and blue/white twine twisted together and a Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment.

Variations Week: Aletha's View

Hello again! Aletha here, to share a little Sweet Pea goodness. This week is what Sweet Pea Stamps (SPS) calls Variation Week. Each SPS Design Team member is given the same image to create something in our own style of design. I love looking at all the artist’s different styles. You receive so much inspiration from each one.

Our image this week is “Red, White, and Blue” by KarenMiddleton. This darling little girl is available in Sweet Pea Stamps online shop. You can search for Plate #161. There are a couple of other amazing images on that plate too.

I did color her with my Copics, but added some highlights with a white gel pen. Just a touch of Stickles on the stars added the much needed sparkle. I die cut the image with Spellbinder’s Labels Twenty-Five, and cut the label again on cardstock. These two die cuts were mounted together with the bottom one offset just a smidge. My swirls are from a Magnolia die. I cut out a few stars that I drew and added Stickles to them also. The rhinestones and designer paper are from my stash. I did distress in a few places with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 11, BV000
Hair: E11, 33, 50
Skirt: B21, 24, 26, 28
Socks: B000, 02, 05, R20, 22, 24, 29, 89
Shirt: B000, 02, 05
Boots and Satchel: E15, 18, 25
Stars: Y13, 19
Background: W00, 1, 3, Y13

Don’t forget about One Sweet Challenge. The theme is to use buttons and ribbons as embellishments. You can use any stamp you want, rubber or digi, but for the “larger” prize you must use an SPS image

Thanks for stopping by! Check back every day this week and be inspired.

I Made This...AND Made it up... ALL BY MYSELF!!!

I love Karen Middleton's art. The whimsy of these darling little images really appeals to me! SO... when I saw this darling little fairie princess... I knew it had to be special... and one thing led  to another... and here is my creation... A birthday and special occasion reminder, date book , and note pad for gifts...
ALL IN ONE PLACE!!! I made this from a CD folder that I purchased on line.
This is the cover... I got a little bit carried away...but that is not unusual for me!!!I even made the LARGE
 3-D flowers myself too!!!

here is a close up of the precious little gal
Inside, there is a little calendar on one side and it is mounted on a pocket that you can use for notes or receipts!

close up...

on the opposite side there is a spot for 3 tabbed pages to jot notes, dates or gift ideas on... and a little altered notepad as well! I embossed the word CELEBRATE with a stamp from Karen Middleton's sheet 14 plate 161! Thanks for popping in and I hope you enjoyed this project!
