My Buddy

Sweet Pea Stamps has so many fabulous images!  I have several stamped and waiting to be colored and/or used.  I decided to revisit some of the earlier images and pulled out this one drawn by ching-chou kuik's  called My Buddy
I used a sketch I found on a piece of paper.  I know that at one point I had found it as part of a challenge on-line, but have no idea which one to credit them.  I used some Basic Grey, Origins. This paper pac is great colors for outdoor images or feel.

I hope you have been by Sweet Pea Stamps lately.  There have been several new artists added and the selection is FABULOUS!

Into You...

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted share another card created with chin-chou kuik's My Buddy. This image has such a woodsy feeling that I tend to use earthy-woodsy type colors every time I color this image.

This is one of my favorite images, perhaps because it evokes memories of my childhood roaming the forests in Germany or perhaps because of the frog. I'm not a big fan of real frogs, but love love love frogs in my paper crafting world. Weird - I know.... :-)

Since my desk is covered with bit of scraps, embellishments and ribbon pieces, I tried to lessen the pile by using some of the embellishments from my scrap pile on this card. I love it when I can use up my scraps.

I put the sentiment which comes on Plate 22 on the inside of the card:

A quick card which any nature lover would enjoy, don't you think?

Make sure to head over to Sweet Pea Stamps to check out that latest sale. And while you're there, you should check out the Fantasy Art Collection sentiments grab bag special.... what a great deal and a great way to get 6 unmounted sentiments from the Fantasy Art Collection. Can't ever have too many sentiments :-).

"Toad"ly into you....

I love this saying "I am 'toad'ally into you!" and it goes perfect with ching-chou kuik's My Buddy stamp from sheet #22. I think this combo would make a great valentine's day card.

I stamped the images onto thick white cardstock with Memento ink. I used Copic markers to color the image. On the wings, I used two light shades of blue and colored the interior of the wings only, leaving the outside edges white. I used a Color Bbox Chalk pad in dark brown to add distressing to the edges of the card and to a lesser extent, the edges of the stamped images. I added some printed Prima flowers for embellishment.

Hope you have fun with this image! I would also love to use this stamp with my own fun frog/toad sayings like: Un'frog'ettable, That's what you are; Toad you so! Hop on Over. Hoppy for You! You're toad-ally Awesome.
Cheers, Holley

Cards using the Ching-Chou Kuik images

This oriental themed image is available on Sweet Pea plate #22. I love the pinks and blues so those are the colors I chose to paint this image with.... I used my Twinkling H2O's to do just that! I trimmed the image and mounted it onto decorative card stock that also seemed to have an oriental theme. Before selecting and attaching the next layer of matting I attached a silver dragonfly brad in the upper left and 2 flower petals with a colored brad in the lower left. I then mounted the decorative card stock piece onto a slightly larger pink metallic card stock. I selected a pink card and used a corner/photo punch in the lower right corner before inserting and attaching the matted piece to the front of the card.

I've always liked frogs!! Maybe that is what draws me to this image which is also available on Sweet Pea plate #22, along with the image used above, two other images, and 3 versatile verses.
I painted the image with Twinkling H2O's and a water brush and then trimmed close to the image.I chose colored card stock that would help bring out the colors I used to paint with. I trimmed the green cardstock slightly smaller than the gold card, leaving a little extra off the left side since I knew I wanted to add the ribbon. I punched both the right and left side of the green card stock with an EK success border punch that not only cut the zig zag pattern, but also embosses dashed lines along the edge. The decorative paper used under the image was given to me by a friend; it was a great addition to the card. And the ribbon, which I had purchased for autumn themed cards, was also a great match.
Have fun with these and all the other Sweet Pea stamps!!!

Fantasy Art Collection 3

These images are from the ching chou kuik Fantasy Art Collection sheet 3 - Plate #22. The images were stamped with black VersaColor ink, colored in with pencils and Copic Markers. The bases are mica card stock and the background papers are various pieces from my stash. Add a touch of bling with a Sakura Stardust pen, Queen and Co. rhinestones, ribbons, and Prima flowers finish them off.

Fairy Masterpiece

Good Monday everyone! Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving? Sigh, not me, not yet! Regardless of everything going on, I was fortunate to be able to grab a view minutes of therapy and this beautiful fairy has been waiting for me to finish her up.

Another beautiful image from ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection. This one is called My Buddy and is 1 of 4 images on ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection 3 (plate 22).

She is stamped onto Neenah Classic Crest Millstone super smooth 80lb card stock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. (I could sit and color all day long, if only I could, lol)
I tend to keep my card design clean and simple (you know, that gives me more time for coloring) using textured card stock and my nesties. I paired the image with a motivational sentiment and used silk ribbon for some pop. Quick, simple and easy! Here is a close up look:

Doesn't she just have the most beautiful eyes? Make sure to head over to the Sweet Pea Stamps store, various stamps are on sale right now through Sunday, November 29th at 15-50% off. And mark your calendar for Black Friday! Plate 25, sheet 5 from ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection and another Gum Drop Gang sheet will be unveiled. I can hardly wait!!!!

I hope you enjoyed today's card and are inspired to pick up your markers!
