Starry Ornament

Today I would like to share a Christmas Ornament featuring Elaine Cox's Starry Garden Fairy. It was made with a red plastic star shaped cookie cutter.

I embellished the outer edge with ribbon and using the Crop-a-Dile cut a hole in the top for a hanger.

Tracing the cookie cutter, along the flat surface edge, on Bo Bunny's Holiday Magic Ornaments paper, I cut the shape out and glued it to the flat edge with the print side facing the inside of the cutter.

Stamp your image and color with copics. Add some sparkle with Sakura glitter pens and punch out in a 2" circle. Mat it on a 2.25" circle, using the solid side of the Bo Bunny paper using dimensional glue dots. Punch a hole in the top of the circle and run a piece of gold string through it, knotting at the top.

Cut a star shape from some red card stock and adhere to the back of the circle. Thread the gold string through the hole hanger hole of the cookie cutter, knotting and then tie off about 4" from the cookie cutter.

Connie-Caron Vinson "Royal Flower"

I used one of Sweet Pea's new artist stamps for today's art.
This beauty is by Caron Vinson and she is
"Royal Flower"
You will find her by clicking

I tried something a little different with the Spellbinder die
"Labels One".  I ran the large size through my Cuttlebug with the
embossing rubber first on a 4" square panel.  If you look closely you can see
the tone-on-tone embossing on the panel.  Then I carefully put the smaller size die
on the same panel and cut it out.

I ended up with a nice "frame" for the shape.  I popped up the overlay
piece after running some sheer pink ribbon behind it.
I layered this onto some dp by Basic Grey, colored the lady
with Copic markers, edged the panel with dye ink, tied a bow and added some Prima flowers
and Basic Grey pearls.

Check out the many new stamps and new artists over at Sweet Pea today!
Thanks for looking,
Connie

Nikki Burnette Plate #92: Shanna

This is one of the newest stamps from Nikki Burnette titled Shanna. It was colored with copics and Sakura glitter pens. After coloring in the majority of the image I removed the top half of the image background and stamped it on the blue background paper and colored in the blanks. The snow on the branches is the Marvy snow pen (which I need to really practice with).

Right now you can find this plate available for pre-order at a fantastic price in the new item section of the Sweet Pea Stamps store. But hurry! Today is the last day! You will also want to check out the After Thanksgiving offer ending today also - 20% off your order and free USA shipping (Intl is discounted). So hurry on over and have a great week!

A Couple of Christmas Beauties.....

I wanted to make all my Christmas cards this year from Sweet Pea Stamps so when I saw Ching Chou Kuik's Purple Hearts I saw green and red instead of purple.  I colored her with copics and then added stickles to give her sparkle.  I covered the hearts with red gem stones so they looked like ornaments instead.  Double matted and some Holiday DP and a big red poinsettia and she was now a Christmas Fairy!!!

Now we have some very progressive friends and this may not suit everyone but it was a perfect image for them.  This one is also one of Ching Chou Kuik's called Growing Love.... I too saw a Christmas card when I looked at her.  My friend is expecting a child close to Christmas time so it will be a double celebration for them.  Again I colored her with my copics and double matted her over some Holiday DP and a braided gold ribbon.  Stickles were added and some red flowers.  I think the original flowers on the stamps were meant to be Gardenias but with my red copics they were transformed into Poinsettia's!  I just wanted to share how versatile these stamps can be.

I hope you enjoyed!!!

Gwynth

This is from the newest sheet in the Nikki Burnette collection, Plate #92 and the image is Gwynth.  When coloring, I decided that it was a moon, not a sun in the corner.  Everything is colored with markers except for the moon and jewelry are with Spica glitter markers and the sky is one of my very first attempts at watercolor with dye inks.  I was going to use markers on the sky as well, but it just needed to be less 'solid' for lack of a better descriptive word.  I am pleased with the watercolor look and can see the combination of techniques happening quite often in the future.

Angel Kitty

In July I had to say good-bye to my precious kitty of 16 years.  It was one of the most difficult things I have ever done.  I miss her terribly.  The other day I was looking through all my wonderful Sweet Pea Stamp images and came across Purple Woods.  It struck me that the kitty was the one with wings in this picture.  I decided to color this to remind me of my sweet Angel Kitty.

Hiya, what a lovely idea this is. I am thankful that god gave me a beautiful daughter nearly 22 years ago and also for my husband - who after a heart scare and surgery to fit stents is still here with me to enjoy our life together. We are all happy and healthy and I am thankful for that every day. I am also thankful for my friends, each and every one of them because life would be a much lonlier place without them. Hugs Dawn x

Holly Fairy

Hi! I am busy working on making my Christmas cards, and I was so excited to get to play with one of ching-chou kuik's Christmas images. Plate 60 has four absolutely stunning holiday images and I can't wait to make each one into a card (they can each be purchased individually, too).

The holly in this image reminded me of some older Bo Bunny paper that I had, so I did my best to color the image so the background would look like an extension of the DP (or the DP would look like an extension of the background of the image.) I colored the image with Copic markers and added some stickles and a glitter pen for sparkle. I used the Martha Stewart icicle punch on clear card stock, then covered that with tinsel glitter and layered it under the ribbon.

The Details:
Stamp: Holly Fairy - chin-chou kuik (Plate 60) - from Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Bo Bunny, Handsome Hunter (SU), White for image (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Walnut Stain and Antique Linen Distress Inks
Copics:
Skin: E000,E00,E11,R00,R20
Hair: YG11
Wings and Clothes: YG11,YG25,YG17,G14,G17,G29
Holly and Background: YG11,YG25,YG17,G14,G17,G29,T6 all w/R02 over them, R24,R29,R39, E50
Misc: Martha Stewart Icicle Punch, Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter (mica), Stardust Stickles, Sakura Clear Stardust pen, Ribbon (Retired SU), Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

I hope you are having fun getting your Holiday cards done!

Caron Vinson's Blue Fairy

Hi everyone :) I'm so excited to share my card with you today. Lynette, the owner of Sweet Pea Stamps has added some incredible new artists to her stamp designs. This particular image is illustrated by the amazing Caron Vinson. I LOVE her illustrations, they are absolutely gorgeous! This particular image is called Blue Fairy (of course, I didn't color mine blue :) ). I colored my image with copics. I then sponged around my image lightly with purple ink using my Tim Holtz blending tool. Next I added some Stardust Stickles to her wings and some purple glitter from my purple glitter Sakura gel pen to her bracelets. Next I created my card base out of SU cardstock. The yummy DP is from DCWV (love this paper!). For some finishing touches, I added pearls, Primas, roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, and a butterfly, which was made by Prima (I got it at Michael's). What do you think?

Well, that's it from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Christine

Arden

I created this card for Sweet Pea Stamps DT and I used one of Nikki Burnette's newest images. Her name is Arden and she can be found on Sheet #2 Plate #82 with 3 other gorgeous stamps or she can be bought indiviually. I love this image and I remember as soon as I saw her she was my favorite and of course she was also in my favorite colors (green and brown). So I knew as soon as I got her I was going to color her in green and brown also as I just loved Nikki's orginal artwork of her.
I made the brown rolled paper flowers by hand and also the lacey flower with the vintage button in the center.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

The New Lisa Victoria Castles

There are wonderful new Castle images coming out from artist Lisa Victoria. I had the chance to make some adorable cards with one of them in two sizes. I call this card "My home is a castle" because we all like to believe that we are living in a real castle, don't we?

The saying comes from Plate #19. I used Bazzil Swiss dotted paper in the background and some Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut out the image.

There was a similar image that was smaller, this one gave me several cute ideas such as tiny fairies, elves and sprites. But at the moment I am making a birthday card for a little girl. Every little girl wants to get a castle for her birthday! Even when I was a child I wanted to have a doll house that looked like a Castle.
For this card I used Olivia (Plate #14) and some great stamp sayings (Plate #9). I added in some wild metallic pink paper and used a border punch from Fiskars. I added a princess crown on top of Olivia because all birthday girls need a crown.

Hope you are all looking forward to the Lisa Victoria Castles.

Cheers, Holley

Have a Fairy Happy Birthday!

This sweet image is from Samantha Rawlings Little Sweethearts collection. She is called Little Fairy and you can find her on Plate #58. I just love this sweet girl. This image I colored with different shades of watercolor pencils and then used a blender pen to mix the colors together.
I used a set of Nestabilities to cut out the saying from plate#34. This fairy saying used on this card is on a wonderful sheet of images from Elaine Cox. I love to use the Fairy Happy Birthday saying all the time! I added a cute mix of red/black embellishments to finish the card along with dusting the edges of the card with some Colorbox Chalk ink in black.
Bonus Card, I saw this stamp on sale on the Sweet Pea website and just had to show you a wonderful card with it. I just love this image from ching chou kuik called Blue Eye Fairy.

The beautiful hair of this maiden so made me fall in love with her! She is on sale for 50% off!! WOW. Only $2.64. Take a peek at all the sale items by clicking HERE, this image is many pages into the sale section.

Have a stampin' great day!

A Trio of Fairy Muses

Stamps: Meredith Dillman's "Japanese Fairy", "Peacock Fairy", & "Blue Fairy" Plate #76

For today's card I used the beautiful fairy images from one of the new Sweet Pea artists, Meredith Dillman. I love the anime feel to these, so I decided to use some vivid colors combined with the Copic Fluorescents. I then cut them into 1.5 x 3.5 inch panels. They are outlined with my favorite Platinum Stickles. The background paper is the Fairy Flora line from Prima.

Caron Vinson's Blushing Rose

This beautiful image is one of Caron Vinson's newest rubber creations. Called Blushing Rose, she can be found on plate 89.

Fall Masquerade Fairy

This is one of the newest images by Caron Vinson. The image is titled Fall Masquerade Fairy. It comes on a sheet with three other amazing images. It is so gorgeous that it is a complete joy to color.

I used some of my different glitter pens to color the wings and gold braclets. It gives them a wonderful shimmer without overpowering the image.

I hope you are enjoying all the new artists and stamps at Sweet Pea Stamps recently. I know that the DT certainly is LOVING them ALL!!!

Dark Shore

Today I have a new card to show you that is available to order now. Sorry for the horrible pics and this is so much prettier in real life. I hate it when my pics don't show the actual beauty of a colored image. This image is called "Dark Shore" by Linda Biggs sheet #3 / Plate #88.
When I saw her I knew I wanted her to be a dark mermaid, with her tribal stripes on her face and back along with her nose ring and tattoo's. I had sooo much fun coloring her, can you tell??

Here is a pic of some of the glitter pen(clear Star), glimmer mist(in Pearl) and clear accents. Well when I added the Liquid Accents well that's what I thought I was putting on there I ended up putting the crackle one on there, oops , so I went over it with the correct one.

I used some Recollection's Halloween DP, frame, spiderweb border stripe and acetate spider from Michaels. With her being a Dark Mermaid I had to use my Halloween embellishments and paper.
I used so many copic colors on the sky and water it would take me forever to figure out what used, but I will add the colors I used for her skin, hair and fins.
Well I hope you like her and she is available now at Sweet Stamps HERE and will start shipping out on Nov. 29.
Make sure you check out the Sweet Pea Store as Lynette has some GREAT deals and sales going on until Nov. 26 and I would hate for you to miss out. Check out post on the top of the blog too for all the Deals and Sales going on.
Copics:
Skin:E11,R01,E01,YR000,YR000
Hair: V99, V95, V91, V000, RV95, RV93, RV91(just a little of RV00 and V04)
Fins/body: 100,C9,C8,C7,C5,C3,C1,Yoo for the light from the moon on her)

Forever Valentine

This beautiful image can be found on plate #68 of the ching chou kuik collection. She was colored with copics, the papers are BoBunny, the glittery embellishments and frame are Aleene's tac it over and over and double sided tape coated in red glitter. I hope you enjoy it!

Should I or Shouldn't I....

I can totally relate to the mischievous look on this kid. With the needle in his hand, I can literally hear him asking himself "should I or shouldn't I"!

This is Brigid Ashwood's Zam from Plate #74. I colored him with Copic markers and cut him using the large Nestabilities circle die, using a kraft knife to trim around the shoes, head and part of the wings. I then used Distress Ink along the edges. I kept the card design simple adding a strip of the playing cards DP along the bottom edge.

I definitely like this kid and more often than not I wish I had a pin and a doll (insert evil laugh)!

Don't forget to head over to Sweet Pea Stamps shop for the latest sales and specials :-) and have a wonderful Thankgiving holiday week!
