Magic

Hi everyone :) For my card today, I just had to ink up one of my new images from Sweet Pea Stamps. This particular image is called Autumn Falls and I think she's gorgeous! I colored the image with copics (pinks: R81, R83, R85, RV21, RV23, RV25; blues: B000, B02, BG72, BG75; skin: E00, E11, E13; hair: E33, E35, E37) and then I inked around the image lightly with SU's Bashful Blue ink. I added some Stardust Stickles to the waterfall to give it a bit of sparkle. Next I created my card base out of SU cardstock (Rose Red and Not Quite Navy). The design paper is from K&Co. For some finishing touches, I added a bow, corner cut outs from my cuttlebug die, pearls, and roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Hugs, Christine

A bit about me....

I live in a small village in the State of Wisconsin in the United States a bit north of Milwaukee called Belgium and have been married for 7 years to my husband Michael, am a mother of 5 and grandmother of 13 beautiful babies! I enjoy working in many types of medium and have had my hand in just about all types of crafting as far back as I can remember and that is pretty far back!!! My favorite thing to do is color. I guess I just never outgrew my so call box of colors, they just cost more now! Give me some copics and I am in heaven!!!!!!  I fancy searching the web looking for new and exciting techniques and then taking my little scraps and creating a piece of art! Another fave of mine is spending a bit of time each day checking out what everyone is doing on their blogs, getting inspiration and leaving comments. You may just find me one day on yours!

Here are a couple of my latest cards to share with you today......

Seahorses and mermaids down under

Today I would like to take the opportunity to show you a card made for a friend using my latest DT loot from sweetpea. This is the first time I've chosen to get some stamps drawn by Elaine Cox. This one is called little seahorses mermaid and I really love the cute little seahorses and the fresh zesty colours of the patterned papers that give the image a different feel. Wouldn't expect the sea to be all orange and flowery although it looks quite amazing in it's own way. Trust me, I've seen some amazing things "down under" and I'm not talking about Australia.

I coloured the image with my promarkers and coloured a white satin ribbon with lime green. It's one of my favourite tips of all time: purchase white ribbons and colour them in so you'll always have a perfectly matched ribbon. You'll save a lot and will always have a perfect colour match.

Two From Elaine Cox

Hello! Today I have two cards to share with you, both using images from Elaine Cox (Plate 34). The first one uses Celestial Garden Fairy. I cut the main image and the butterflies out after stamping them and then mounted them on a piece of embossed white card stock.

The Details:
Stamp: Celestial Garden Fairy - Elaine Cox (Plate 34) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: My Little Shoebox, Dark Chocolate, White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair: E21,E25,E27,E29
Clothes: Y15,Y08,Y17,Y21,YG21,YG23,YG25 W/W1 and W3 over,R24,R29,R39,R81,R83
Misc: Stardust Stickles, Sizzix Tim Holtz Embossing Folder, Ribbon (Offray)

The second card uses Little River Mermaid, also from Plate 34. I gave her lots of sparkle with stickles on her tail and tiny stick on gems in her hair. The background embossed pieces were sprayed with Glimmer Mist and then had a little Stickles added after that dried.

The Details:
Stamp: Little River Mermaid - Elaine Cox (Plate 34) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Basic Black, Whisper White (SU), White for image (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,RV21,RV23
Hair: E50.E53.E55

I hope your day is magical!

A Very Sparkly Mad Tea Party

Stamp: Ching-Chou Kuik's "Mad Tea Party"

Ching-Chou Kuik's FAC images are so beautifully detailed and you can use them with so many mediums. Here, I simply stamped the image and then sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in: Sweet Clover, Patina, Peach Delight, and Pink Bubblegum. To get those heavy blobs of color, I spray close to the paper, about an inch or two away from the paper. Once the image was dry, I edged it with Versamagic in Jumbo Java. The background is embossed with one of the new Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders. And, wow, are black roses difficult to photograph!

Bad Hair Day?

I love this wonderful stamp from Lisa Victoria called "Bad Hair Day". Haven't we all had that? Now perhaps I never had a tree branch in my hair but post brain surgery (esp when they shaved only parts of my head, lol!) I can remember some funny looking days. I just love this little girl and I had to use this stamp as soon as I got the sheet!

I did my card on the Bazzill dotted Swiss paper with iridescent ribbons and felt flowers, colored in my image with wonderful shades of Copic markers and used the Hello Sunshine saying from plate #8. I punched the bottom of saying with a border punch and added some ink to the saying with a colorbox chalk inkpad.

Cream and Black (Red) Hearts

This card was created using ching chou kuik's Red Hearts image, DCWV papers, Queen & Co. Pearls and I believe Prima flowers. The image was embossed with Rangers Ultrafine black EP and colored with Copics - I hit my stash of Cool Grey's and Blacks, along with Eggshell and Floral White. The button and velvet ribbon are from the massive stash of goodies I have accumulated.

Mag - Pick a Pumpkin

Hi Ladies,
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments,
they really make my day each time :)

CONNIE :
To make the white shadow around the witch,
first, I color all my background with
different colors of Pebbles Pearlescent Chalks.
Then, with the edge of a little chalk eraser,
I come all around the witch to take away
a line of color.

That's all, just easy :)

---

Hi everyone,
Here is a card I've made with my
fave combo colors : fall colors :)

I used an image from Chin-Chou Kuik,
"Pick a Pumpkin".

You can find this image on plate 53.

Papers are from Bazzill and Basic Grey
The butterfly is a Tim Holtz Alteration die.
The big flower is from Prima (Ameruse collection).
I colored the image with Copics and used
a Spellbinders Classic Frame to put in.
The background of the image is made with
Pearlescent Chalks from Pebbles Inc.

Here is the list of the Copics I used :

Skin : E50, E01, E11
Hat and dress : R81, R83, R85, R89
Hair : Y32, Y35, Y38, YR18
Cat : R00, blender

Have a magical day !!!

Magical wishes

The image I've used is called time flies. I thought this image really suited the blue paper as it has swirls and butterflies on it. I really wanted to make the card over-the-top as I sometimes feel like I don't decorate enough. I love those decadent cards with enormous amounts of embellishments and layers. So whenever I felt like stopping myself I ignored that impulse and inked, tore and layered some more.

I worked quite a while on this card and loved every second of it. As usual I coloured the image with promarkers, cut out with a circle nestability and layered on a bigger circle of orange bling cardstock. I added stickles glitter in colours "waterfall" and "stardust" on her and on the middle of the cut-out butterfly. The blue card base is stamped with a butterfly stamp with versamark ink and then embossed with a light blue embossing powder with some glitter in it. On top of that I added a piece of orange patterned paper with glitter embossed parts. I tore the top and bottom to make it a bit more vibrant. On top of that are two pieces of paper. They are actually cut as one strip from a 12x12" paper and then cut in two. I used a corner punch on them and after that I cut out a scalloped circle with my nesties which I embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder. Finally I stamped the text "mystical wishes" that can be found on Elaine Cox' sheet 5 plate 46 in a blue ink and embossed with glittery powder. I then layered it on a tiny piece of orange bling card stock and attached to the right hand side of the card. And there you have it :)

Connie-Exotic Halloween

I know it's not Halloween yet, but this image by ching-chou kuik
draws me and I finally gave in and used it.
I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and colored with Copic markers.
I see that I need more blacks and grays for better
shading, but hey!  I am trying!
I cut her out with a Spellbinders "Classic Frame" die and sponged green dye ink on the edges.
I tied some raffia and a tiny little mint bone around one side
and added some glittery flowers in a corner.
Some PPA with a sprinkle of glitter added sets off the aura around
the candles.

Below is a closer view that hopefully shows the glitz:

Aren't those pumpkins just the cutest??
Connie

Seeing Through

Hi Everyone, I was able to sneak in some 'crafting time' and decided to finish coloring up this beautiful fairy, Chin-Chou Kuik's "Seeing Through" from Plate #42. I decided to add the sentiment from Plate #29.

Seeing Through

I used Copics to color her and then added (actually I should say "experimented") adding Copic Opaque White highlights to the roses and her wings. I added the acrylic glitter flourish die cuts for some 'bling' :-).

Seeing Through Plate 42CloseUp

I used distress inks and foam applicator to add a defining edge to the image panel as well as the sentiment panel. I make it a point to stamp out several sentiments at a time which makes it easy to add to a card as needed. I keep the extra sentiments in a baggie with the stamp info written on the outside. The sentiment on this card is from Plate #29.

I absolutely love the sentiments that come with each of the plates. They are so versatile and I love to mix and match these with images from other plates. Speaking about all the awesome stamps, images and sentiments, have you checked out the Sweet Pea Stamps shop recently? Candy for the soul, lo! It's just like Christmas morning to see what new stamps will be released!!! You'll definitely want to head over to the shop and check all of the stamps out!

Oh and before I sign off, I have to say that June's Customer Challenge submissions were AWESOME! You guys keep submitting your creations, they rock!

Angela, Purple Comfort

Today I have a card to share that I created with one of my new images from ching chou kuiks fantasy art collection (plate #47) at Sweet Pea Stamps. Her name is "Purple Comfort", and I decided to color her in Fall colors. I have noticed for someone who is not an orange fan I have been using it a lot in my coloring. I know I live in Tennessee and orange is our Tennessee Vols color, but I am not a Tennessee Vols fan.

But I just love these colors together, so warm and comforting. So instead of being Purple comfort to me she is Fall comfort. And Fall is my favorite season along with Spring.

I created this card for one of our newest DT members, Christine Riley!!

Ink: Memento Tuxedo

Paper: Basic Grey Indian Summer and DCWV Indian Summer, black and dark plumlish/drown CS, Image was stamped on PTI white CS

Accessories: Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, Floral arrangement sprays, Nestie dies, EK Sucess Border Punch

COPICS:

Skin: E000,E00,E02,E50,E51, R20, Rv00

Hair: E79,E77,E74,E71 and colorless blender

Clothes: RV99,E18,R08,YR09,YR04

NEW! Elaine Cox sheet #9

Elaine Cox's sheet #9 (plate #59)

on sale through June 23rd

will NOT begin to ship until June 28th

Brown Hat Spring Fairy

This wonderful image is Elaine Cox's Brown Hat Spring Fairy. It comes from Sheet 3 (Plate 40) Owls. I love these whimsical type images that have fairy girls with owls as well. I used Copic markers to color and dual colored silk ribbon to add embellishment. I also added some cute brads as well as a simple flower.

It's hard to see in the photo but the background brown paper is shimmery as well as the dark red paper that the stamped image is mounted on. That sparkle gives the whole card a shine.
I love the whole set of owls. Inside I used a wonderful saying from the same sheet that says "Owl only have eyes for you."
Have a great day! Holley

Bubble Fairy

When I saw Bubble Fairy drawn by Lisa Victoria for Sweet Pea Stamps I instantly fell in love! A fairy taking a bubble bath in a teacup- PERFECT! Such a sweet fairy and such a dainty teacup.

I first stamped the image with Memento Ink so that I could color it with my markers and not have to worry about it running. The flowers on the teacup made me think of Forget-Me-Knots. If you have never had the opportunity to see Forget-Me-Knots in real life, not only are they blue, but they have a really pretty pinkish/purplish center to them. I tried to capture that in my coloring.

After I finished coloring the image I put Pixie Dust Shimmerz on the wings for the proper 'fairy look'. The pink velvet ribbon, jeweled center Color Me Crazy florettes (my go to flower right now!) with inked edges and Basic Grey Koshi paper finished it all off.
